  • Patent number: 7865651
Abstract: A multi-protocol serial interface system comprises a multi-protocol port pin array, a transport protocol change FPGA, a pull-up change FPGA and a memory. The multi-protocol port pin array comprises a plurality of port pins which interface with an external system for exchanging data with the external system. The transport protocol change FPGA determines roles of port pins of the multi-protocol port pin array depending on a variably changed protocol by selecting one of the plurality of programmed transport protocol circuits in response to code data. The pull-up change FPGA regulates pull-up load of the port pins corresponding to the roles of the port pins determined in the transport protocol change FPGA. The memory stores data processed in the transport protocol change FPGA unit and exchanged with the external system.

  • Patent number: 7865647
Abstract: Resource requests are allocated by storing resource requests in a queue slots in a queue. A token is associated with one of the queue slots. During an arbitration cycle, the queue slot with the token is given the priority to the resource. If the queue slot with the token does not include a request, a different queue slot having the highest static priority and including a request is given access to the resource. The token is advanced to a different queue slot after one or more arbitration cycles. Requests are assigned to the highest priority queue slot, to random or arbitrarily selected queue slots, or based on the source and/or type of the request. One or more queue slots may be received for specific sources or types of requests. Resources include processor access, bus access, cache or system memory interface access, and internal or external interface access.

  • Patent number: 7865480
Abstract: A metadata validation process that allows for deferring object model validation until after the objects are created. The process also allows for multi-threaded processing of the validation rules, thus increasing overall performance. Validation is performed by enforcing a series of validation rules on an appropriate subject. Rules are specified according to the subject that they are validating (i.e., attribute level, association level, object level or collection level). The metadata driven validation process implements several validation types on different validation units. Correctness validation rule types ensure that a validation unit satisfies all semantic rules defined for it. Completeness validation rule types ensure that a validation unit contains all the necessary data and is ready for further use. At design time, only correctness type validation is performed. Thus, the present invention advantageously allows for incomplete objects to be created at design time.

  • Patent number: 7864180
Abstract: A method for auto-scaling properties of simulated objects includes receiving a metric associated with a reference object. A value associated with a property of a simulated object is adjusted in response to the metric. The value of the property is related to an at-rest shape or desired rest state associated with the simulated object. The property may be a geometric property of the simulated object. Some examples of geometric properties are dimensions (e.g., length, width, height), angle, momentum and rotation, mass, density, and the like. The at-rest shape or desired rest state associated with the simulated object may be related to shape of the simulated object in response to one or more internal forces and expected external forces.

  • Patent number: 7865124
Abstract: Techniques for scanning and generating fingerprints for articles prior to the use of the articles. The fingerprinting of the articles is performed such that it is decoupled from the process of using the articles. As a result, the fingerprinting process does not act as a bottleneck to the use of the articles. In one embodiment, a printer is provided that is configured to generate fingerprints for paper sheets loaded into the printer prior to the paper sheets being available for printing. The pre-fingerprinted sheets are then made available for printing. In this manner, the process of fingerprinting of the paper sheets is decoupled from the printing operations performed by the printer. As a result, the fingerprinting process does not act as a bottleneck to the printing process.

  • Patent number: 7863048
Abstract: Protein dyes whose molecular structure is that of a coumarin moiety coupled to a quaternary ammonium heterocycle through a vinyl or polyvinyl linkage demonstrate the ability to associate with proteins in a non-covalent, non-specific manner at low pH, where the associated form displays a significantly higher fluorescence emission than the unassociated form. This makes the dyes useful as selective labels for proteins at the low pH and eliminates the need for the removal of extraneous components from the medium in which the proteins reside prior to detection.

  • Patent number: 7865702
Abstract: Thread switching prevents pipeline stalls when executing multiple threads. An analysis of a first thread identifies instructions capable of causing pipeline stalls. If pipeline stalls from the identified instructions are likely, thread switching instructions are added to the first thread in place of the identified instructions. Thread switching instructions direct a microprocessor to suspend executing the thread and begin executing a second thread. Thread switching instructions can be added to the second thread to enable the resumption of the first thread at the location specified by the identified instruction. The thread switching instructions are configured to avoid pipeline stalls when switching threads. Thread switching instructions can store and retrieve thread-specific information upon the suspension and resumption of threads. Thread switching instructions can schedule the execution of two or more threads in accordance with load balancing schemes.

  • Patent number: 7865867
Abstract: A criteria-based system and method is provided for performing workload management. Unlike conventional systems, the invention provides a system and method that includes a core workload management entity for performing workload management for multiple process lines. Each process line is defined based on the criteria for a workload, such as a product line or service based task. The method may include providing initial information related to components supply, then developing workflow processes and workflow exit criteria algorithms for individual workflow steps. The exit criteria may produce a common thread among multiple product lines, allowing the process to extend to create a diverse master workflow system to manage and monitor the workflow of an organization. The system and method are adaptable to product supply chain workflow management, project management, service provision management, and any other scenario where some level of concurrent management of multiple workflows is desired.
