  • Patent number: 7907480
Abstract: An optical disk device for recording or reproducing an optical disk has: an objective lens for irradiating a laser beam to the optical disk; an actuator for moving the objective lens in the radial direction of the optical disk; and a spindle motor for rotating the optical disk. After the laser beam irradiated to the optical disk passed through a PID portion of the optical disk, the actuator moves the objective lens in the radial direction of the optical disk at a timing corresponding to a rotational speed. Between signals to drive the actuator, an output time of a deceleration signal is set to a predetermined ratio of a time during which an acceleration signal is outputted. While the deceleration signal is outputted, a light spot passes through the PID portion.

  • Patent number: 7902080
Abstract: Methods of filling a gap on a substrate with silicon oxide are described. The methods may include the steps of introducing an organo-silicon precursor and an oxygen precursor to a deposition chamber, reacting the precursors to form a first silicon oxide layer in the gap on the substrate, and etching the first silicon oxide layer to reduce the carbon content in the layer. The methods may also include forming a second silicon oxide layer on the first layer, and etching the second layer to reduce the carbon content in the second layer. The silicon oxide layers are annealed after the gap is filled.

  • Patent number: 7902831
Abstract: Methods of performing electrostatic discharge testing on a transaction card are disclosed. A transaction card may be placed on an insulated surface. A grounding probe may be placed at a first location on the transaction card. A discharge probe may be charged to a known voltage level. The discharge probe may then be discharged at a second location on the transaction card. A discharge wave shape may be recorded from the ground probe, and one of a pass condition and a fail condition may be assigned based on at least the value of the known voltage level as compared to a reference voltage level. The first location and the second location may each be selected from a plurality of areas on the transaction card.

  • Patent number: 7903654
Abstract: A packet classifier and a method for routing a data packet are provided. The packet classifier includes a content addressable memory, a translation table and a parameter memory. The method includes looking up a content addressable memory for a base address into a parameter memory using a header of the data packet. The base address is related to the routes under ECMP for forwarding the data packet. From among these addresses, using multiple headers of the data packet, an adjustment to the base address is computed. The adjustment specifies an actual address to the parameter memory corresponding to a selected route for forwarding the data packet. The parameter memory is then accessed using the actual address to obtain parameter values relevant to the selected route. The data packet is then forwarded according to the parameter values thus obtained.

  • Patent number: 7899867
Abstract: Techniques for processing instant messages (IM) received from entities destined for IM clients are provided. An IM module is used to receive the instant messages and process them. In one embodiment, the IM module may be used to determine if a message is spam (or spim) or not. The IM module receives an instant message for the IM client and determines if a challenge message should be sent to the sender of the IM. The challenge IM is an IM that is sent to the sender of the IM that necessitates a challenge. If a response to the IM challenge is received at the IM module, it is determined if the response satisfies an answer required by the challenge IM. If the response satisfies the answer, the IM received may be forwarded to the intended recipient IM client. Additionally, a method for processing buddy list events using an IM module is provided.

  • Patent number: 7899941
Abstract: Circuits, methods, and apparatus that allow a DisplayPort compatible host device to control data transactions over an I2C bus when communicating with a legacy monitor. One example includes an adapter having a compatibility register that may have a number of locations, where at least some of the locations correspond to I2C bus speeds. Values stored at these locations can indicate whether the adapter is compatible or incompatible with the corresponding I2C bus speed. Another example includes an adapter having a speed register that may have a number of locations, where at least some of the locations correspond to I2C bus speeds. A defined value written to one of these locations dictates the corresponding I2C bus speed.

  • Patent number: 7898549
Abstract: A graphics processing subsystem defines a bounding area as the portion of the display buffer and other memory buffers occupied by one or more rendered objects. When clearing the memory buffers, only the portions of the buffers corresponding to the bounding area need to be cleared. A graphics pipeline includes a bounding area memory to store bounding area values. The bounding area values are modified during rendering so that each rendered primitive falls within the bounding area values. The graphics processing subsystem clears a portion of the memory buffer in response to a clear command specifying a bounding area. The clear command may include a set of bounding area values defining the bounding area, or alternatively a reference to the bounding area memory. For applications that draw objects in isolation, the bounding area will be smaller than the window, resulting in a decreased time requirement for clearing the memory buffer.

  • Patent number: 7898459
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for adaptively estimating the specific differential phase (Kdp) from dual-polarization radar data in the complex domain. Some embodiments adapt for wrapped differential propagation phases by estimating the specific differential phase in the complex domain. Some embodiments adapt for measurement fluctuations and/or spatial scale in making such estimations. Some embodiments also provide for determining the presence of storms cells using the dispersion of the differential propagation phase shift over a subset of bins.

  • Patent number: 7897387
Abstract: A reporter system reflecting the transport process that transports GPI-anchored proteins to the cell wall was constructed and compounds inhibiting this process were discovered. Further, genes conferring resistance to the above compounds were identified and methods of screening for compounds that inhibit the activity of the proteins encoded by these genes were developed. Therefore, through the novel compounds, the present invention showed that antifungal agents having a novel mechanism, i.e. inhibiting the process that transports GPI-anchored proteins to the cell wall, could be achieved.
