Abstract: A valve includes: a body including: a wall defining a process surface, a process void in the process surface adapted to communicate with fluid at process pressure, and at least two vent voids in the wall separate from the process void; an inlet port in fluid communication with the process void; and an outlet port in fluid communication with the vent void; a reference housing adapted to communicate with fluid at reference pressure; and a membrane constrained between the body and the reference housing with its process side substantially coplanar with the process surface. The process surface incorporates at least one groove therein which defines a flow path between the near vicinity of the process void and the near vicinity of the vent voids.
Abstract: A duplex turbine nozzle includes a row of different first and second vanes alternating circumferentially between radially outer and inner bands in vane doublets having axial splitlines therebetween. The vanes have opposite pressure and suction sides spaced apart in each doublet to define an inboard flow passage therebetween, and corresponding outboard flow passages between doublets. The vanes have different patterns of film cooling holes with larger cooling flow density along the outboard passages than along the inboard passages.
Abstract: The invention provides a grout pack restraining system, comprising a plurality of elongate elements shaped to extend about a grout pack and which are characterized in that they are configured to control circumferential expansion of the grout pack beyond the expansion permitted through material yield of the elements. In one embodiment the rings of different diameter are secured about the grout pack. In a further embodiment the rings are configured to be circumferentially expandable are secured about the grout pack.
