Patent number: 8240216Abstract: A pressure transducer assembly for measuring pressures in high temperature environments employing an elongated tube which is terminated at one end by an acoustic micro-filter. The micro-filter is operative to absorb acoustic waves impinging on it with limited or no reflection. To improve the absorption of acoustic waves, the elongated tube may be tapered and/or mounted to a support block and further convoluted to reduce the overall size and mass of the device. A pressure transducer with a diaphragm flush may be mounted to the elongated tube and extend through to the inner wall of the tube. Hot gases propagate through the elongated tube and their corresponding pressures are measured by the transducer. The acoustic filter operates to absorb acoustic waves resultant from the hot gases, therefore enabling the pressure transducer to be mainly responsive to high frequency waves associated with the gas turbine operation.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2011Date of Patent: August 14, 2012Assignee: Kulite Semiconductor Products, Inc.Inventors: Anthony D. Patent number: 8236158Abstract: Described herein are a method and system for desalinating saltwater using concentration difference energy. A “five stream” dialytic stack is described that can be used to desalinate saltwater at a relatively high recovery ratio. The dialytic stack may include, for example, one or more drive cells having a paired concentrate and a diluent-c chamber in ionic communication with a product chamber that is adjacent to an anion and a cation discharge chamber each filled with diluent-p. The drive cell applies a drive voltage across the product chamber, and when the drive voltage exceeds a desalination voltage of the product chamber, the saltwater in the product chamber is desalinated. The diluent-p may be at a lower ionic concentration than the diluent-c, which may be at a lower concentration than the concentrate.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2010Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: Saltworks Technologies Inc.Inventors: Benjamin Stuart Sparrow, Joshua Aniket Zoshi, James Hing Bong Tang

Patent number: 8222099Abstract: A semiconductor device and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. A multi-component high-k interface layer containing elements of the substrate is formed from a ultra-thin high-k dielectric material in a single-layer structure of atoms by rapid annealing in the manufacturing of a CMOS transistor by the replacement gate process, and a high-k gate dielectric layer with a higher dielectric constant and a metal gate layer are formed thereon. The EOT of the device is effectively decreased, and the diffusion of atoms in the high-k gate dielectric layer from an upper level thereof is effectively prevented by the optimized high-k interface layer at high-temperature treatment. Thus, the present invention may also avoid the growth of the interface layers and the degradation of carrier mobility.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2010Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Institute of Microelectronics, Chinese Academy of SciencesInventors: Wenwu Wang, Kai Han, Shijie Chen, Xiaolei Wang, Dapeng Chen
