  • Patent number: 7327210
Abstract: A microwave filter and method for remotely tuning a microwave filter from one sub-band to another sub-band using metallic rings to adjust the capacitance or inductance of the resonator. In adjusting the capacitance, a plurality of metallic rings are disposed in the upper section or end of the resonator. Each ring has an RF switch that connects or disconnects each ring to ground, thereby varying the capacitance of the resonator. In adjusting the inductance, a plurality of metallic rings are disposed perpendicular to the magnetic field of the resonator. Each ring has an RF switch disposed within the electrical path of the ring that opens or closes the electrical path of each ring. By opening and closing each ring, the magnetic field of the resonator is altered, thereby varying the inductance of the resonator.

  • Patent number: 7130397
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for detecting and facilitating amelioration of mass call event in a telephonic network. A detector monitors call attempts to form call connections during operation of the telephonic network. When more than a selected level of call attempts are made to a particular one, or more than one, called station within a selected period, a mass call event is considered to have occurred and detection thereof is made. A notifier initiates notification of other network elements in the telephonic network, and the rate at which call connections are permitted with the called stations is limited during the duration of the mass call event.

  • Patent number: 7113477
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus, system and method of traffic measurement for a node in a telecommunication network. A communication linkset is monitored and a traffic measurement collection is triggered when the linkset is determined to be overdriven or overloaded. For an overdriven linkset, outbound messages are examined to determine the associated communication linksets providing traffic to the overloaded linkset and a count is initiated for messages received on those associated communication linksets.

  • Patent number: 7102895
Abstract: A bracket assembly and a method for using the bracket assembly to connect one or more plug-in cards to a backplane are described herein. The bracket assembly includes a frame that has two pairs of guide support arms which guide and support the plug-in card while it is being connected to the backplane. The first pair of guide support arms includes a top guide support arm positioned a predetermined distance over a bottom guide support arm both of which include a notch formed therein that is sized to receive a side edge of the plug-in card. Likewise, the second pair of guide support arms includes a top guide support arm positioned a predetermined distance over a bottom guide support arm both of which include a notch formed therein that is sized to receive the other side edge of the plug-in card.
