  • Patent number: 8169300
Abstract: An apparatus configured to acquire received signal strength intensities (RSSIs) for a wireless device from a plurality of access points (APs) located on a plurality logical floors. The apparatus is configured to determine which logical floor the wireless device is on by analyzing the RSSIs. The RSSIs for each floor are adjusted with an adjustment value and are selectively weighted with at least two different weight values, and the adjusted and weighted RSSIs for each floor are each summed. The floor with highest sum of adjusted or weighted RSSIs is determined to be the floor the wireless device is on.

  • Patent number: 8119083
Abstract: This invention relates to a multiphase reactor which is especially suitable for desulfurization of flue gas. A rotary build-in member comprising a axisymmetric body and an annular axisymmetric body is fixed on the shell of the reactor. The shell is cylindrical, and its surface is smooth or waved. The maximum diameter of the axisymmetric body is no less than the inner diameter of the annular axisymmetric body. The axisymmetric body is installed on the annular axisymmetric body coaxially. One rotary build-in member and its corresponding shell constitute an unit, and the reactor may have one or more such units. The multiphase reactor can effectively improve the flow pattern of the fluid and the contact of gas-liquid-solid three-phase of the reactants, speed up the mass transfer, and prevent deposition of the solid phase. The reactor is simple in structure and convenient for use. It can be used in the fields such as environmental protection, chemical engineering, metallurgy, and architectural industries.

  • Patent number: 8074070
Abstract: A method wherein an access point authenticates itself with neighboring access points and establishes secure and mutually authenticated communication channels with its neighboring access points. When an access point learns of a neighboring access point, it initiates an authentication with an authentication server through the neighboring access point. Once access points have mutually authenticated each other, whenever a station authenticates itself with a first access point, the first access point communicates the station's authentication context information, for example session key and session identifier, to each neighboring access point. Thus, when the station roams to a neighboring access point, the neighboring access point presents the station with a reauthentication protocol, for example LEAP reauthentication, and if the reauthentication is successful, communication between the station and the neighboring access point takes place immediately and no new EAP authentication needs to occur.

  • Patent number: 8068447
Abstract: A power-save system for a network with an access point and an associated power-save client. The access point buffers wireless data that includes a unicast frame and a multicast frame. A periodic scheduled beacon message is transmitted with a unicast indication element and a multicast indication element. The unicast element instructs a client to remain awake to receive a buffered unicast frame, which includes a destination MAC address. The multicast element instructs a client to remain awake following the beacon to receive a buffered multicast frame, which includes a destination multicast address designating a multicast group of which the client is a member. At least one beacon message is designated as a multicast delivery beacon. The buffered multicast frame is transmitted following the designated multicast beacon. The multicast element contains a list of entries, each entry corresponding to either a multicast MAC address, multicast IP address, or client identifier.

  • Patent number: 8064362
Abstract: In an example embodiment disclosed herein, Wide Area Network optimization modules coupled to peers are configured to maintain peer routing tables. The peer routing table (PRT) is used by the Wide Area Network optimization module to determine the peer for a given destination, such as an Internet Protocol “IP” destination. Each peer is responsible for advertising to other peers which networks the peer is able to reach. This information is advertised when a tunnel is first created and subsequently whenever necessary. Initially, a peer sends out a list of entries corresponding to its directly connected networks, with the exception of the network connected to the interface on which the peer is advertising (e.g. the network used for the tunnel). This enables other peers on the network to populate their PRT entries.

  • Patent number: 8064411
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a method for speculative power saving. The beginning portion of a header (e.g. a physical layer convergence protocol “PLCP” header of a beacon) is processed to determine whether a predefined bit is set that indicates whether the frame contains any delivery traffic indication for buffered multicast and/or unicast frames. If the bit is set, indicating the frame contains no delivery traffic indication of buffered frames, receiving and processing of the frame stops (e.g. the remainder of the PPDU is not processed) and the receiver switches to a power save state. In an example embodiment, if a predefined NULL beacon frame is detected, receiving and processing of the frame (and PPDU) stops and the receiver switches to a power save state.

  • Patent number: 8049617
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of asset location. Location data is received from a cellular transmitter associated with a selected asset, which location data includes data representative of a cellular receiver with which direct communication with the cellular transmitter is made. The location data is then communicated to a tracking service system, which tracking service system includes a database representative of geographic locations associated with a plurality of cellular receivers. The database is then queried with received location data so as to generate geographic tracking data associated with a location of the cellular receiver, the geographic tracking data including display data adapted to generate a map image including a representative of a location of the selected asset.

  • Patent number: 8040794
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for rapid switching between anycast multicast sources. Multiple streams of data are received by a server. The server associates a separate source address to each of the received streams and sources the multiple streams of data with the associated addresses to a recipient. The server determines whether each of the multiple streams of data is up or down. The server periodically sends status information with the associated address for each of the multiple streams of data to the recipient indicating whether each of the multiple streams of data is up or down.
