  • Patent number: 7706345
Abstract: A Wireless LAN Context Control Protocol (WLCCP) is used to establish and manage a wireless network topology and securely manages the “operational context” for mobile stations in a campus network. The WLCCP registration protocol can automatically create and delete links in the network, securely distribute operational context, and reliably establish Layer 2 forwarding paths on wireless links. A single infrastructure node is established as the central control point for each subnet, and enables APs and MNs to select the parent node that provides the “least-cost path” to a backbone LAN. Context messages provide a general-purpose transport for context and management information. WLCCP “Trace” messages facilitate network diagnostic tools. Ethernet or UDP/IP encapsulation can be used for WLCCP messages. Ethernet encapsulation is employed for intra-subnet (e.g. AP-to-AP or AP-to-SCM) WLCCP messages. IP encapsulation is used for inter-subnet WLCCP messages and may also be used for intra-subnet WLCCP messages.

  • Patent number: 7702587
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating gift cards. Image data representing gift card formats is first generated on an associated display. A gift card is then selected and text data is received representing text associated with the selected gift card. Gift amount data is then received representing a fungible value associated with the selected gift card. Charge data associated with a cost associated with the gift amount is then received. Encoded data, corresponding to the gift amount, is then generated. Thereafter, a tangible gift card is generated in accordance with the selected gift card format and the received text. In accordance with one embodiment of the subject application, the encoded data is stored on a tangible medium on the tangible gift card.

  • Patent number: 7701618
Abstract: A method and apparatus for enhancing electronic images allows for improved characteristics between light areas and dark areas, and is particularly effective for backlit images. A transition between light and dark image portions is detected. A determination is made from an analysis of spectral distributions as to whether an image portion is backlit. Upon detection, image data is adjusted to lighten or darken image portions to allow for improved image viewing. Use of cumulative probability distribution data associated with an electronic image facilitates isolation of backlit image portions and object image portions.

  • Patent number: 7702056
Abstract: A system and method for synchronizing a system clock in accordance with a program clock reference of a content data stream includes application of incremental delays to a local clock signal having a higher frequency than that specified by the program clock reference. The delay is made over a period defined by phase comparison between a system clock signal and a minimum delay value. Delay values are incremented proportionally to a number of clock cycles over the period. The subject system allows for display of jitter free audio or video decoded from the content data stream, and is realized in circuitry that is readily implement on an integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 7688762
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a number of contending nodes and colliding nodes for a plurality of links of a network is determined. The capacity of each of the plurality of links is determined. A sum of the traffic demand of each of the plurality of links divided the throughput of each of the plurality of links is used to form a cost function for the network. One, or more, of a group consisting of a plurality of frequency assignments, a plurality of transmit powers, and a plurality of clear channel assessment (CCA) values is searched to obtain a global minimum for the cost function. The frequency assignments, transmit powers, and/or CCA values providing the global minimum for the cost function are selected.

  • Patent number: 7681135
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating a composite source user interface. A text query corresponding to a text element associated with a graphical element on a display of the associated user interface is first received by a backend component. The received text query data is then directed to a data document on the associated data storage. Text data is then received from the data document of the associated data storage. Thereafter, the received text data is then communicated to the associated user interface so as to generate indicia on the associated user interface. Preferably, the indicia includes a graphical element and the text data, such as, for example and without limitation, an icon and associated text, or the like.

  • Patent number: 7675987
Abstract: A trellis-based lock detector and method for digitally modulated signals are presented. A global survivor for consecutive time indexes is computed as a maximum cumulative branch metric corresponding to a given time index for consecutive branches of the trellis structure. The invention is based on a concept that for a noise signal entering the lock detector, in contrast to an informative signal, the probability of a long succession of true evaluations of a global survivor is very small. The latter allows for using data, representative of the number of consecutive true conditions for a global survivor over an averaging time, as an informative parameter for making a decision on the status of lock detection.

  • Patent number: 7668883
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for the secure and correct deletion of data files from a data storage that bypasses the file system of an operating system. A secure erase service receives a secure erase request from a system interceptor component, which has intercepted a system call from an application. The system call interceptor component communicates with the secure erase service via an interprocess communication module. The secure erase service receives the secure erase request from the interprocess communication module and communicates the secure erase request to a secure erase library. Using the file information contained in the secure erase request, the secure erase library queries the file system of the data storage device to determine the location of data blocks containing the to be deleted data.
