Abstract: A method for fabrication of features for an integrated circuit includes patterning a mandrel layer to include structures having at least one width on a surface of an integrated circuit device. Exposed sidewalls of the structures are reacted to integrally form a new compound in the sidewalls such that the new compound extends into the exposed sidewalls by a controlled amount to form pillars. One or more layers below the pillars are etched using the pillars as an etch mask to form features for an integrated circuit device.

Abstract: A device and method for improving performance of a transistor includes gate structures formed on a substrate having a spacing therebetween. The gate structures are formed in an operative relationship with active areas fainted in the substrate. A stress liner is formed on the gate structures. An angled ion implantation is applied to the stress liner such that ions are directed at vertical surfaces of the stress liner wherein portions of the stress liner in contact with the active areas are shielded from the ions due to a shadowing effect provided by a height and spacing between adjacent structures.

Abstract: Systems and methods for parallel stream item counting are disclosed. A data stream is partitioned into portions and the portions are assigned to a plurality of processing cores. A sequential kernel is executed at each processing core to compute a local count for items in an assigned portion of the data stream for that processing core. The counts are aggregated for all the processing cores to determine a final count for the items in the data stream. A frequency-aware counting method (FCM) for data streams includes dynamically capturing relative frequency phases of items from a data stream and placing the items in a sketch structure using a plurality of hash functions where a number of hash functions is based on the frequency phase of the item. A zero-frequency table is provided to reduce errors due to absent items.

Abstract: An anti-hemorrhage medication pack for administering an anti-hemorrhage drug, in particular for the treatment of hemorrhage caused by trauma in emergency situations comprises an active ingredient selected from the group comprising the 1-24 amino acid sequence of the adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 1-24) and all its fragments and analogues, and analogues of fragments, with agonist activity on the MC4 melanocortin receptors, and all the synthesis agonists, including those with a nonpeptidic structure, of the MC4 melanocortin receptors. An auto-injector (1; 11) includes the drug for automatically injecting a patient with the drug.

Abstract: There is provided, in a computer processing system, an apparatus for storage lifecycle management for a plurality of managed objects. The apparatus includes a policy decision manager for creating and managing a policy decision stash. The policy decision stash is associated with predictive policy decisions for the plurality of managed objects and is configured to allow the predictive policy decisions for the plurality of managed objects to be incrementally updated and accessed in the policy decision stash by a policy identifier and an effective timestamp.

Abstract: A circuit for controlling illumination means in a display includes illumination means arranged in a series-connection that are supplied with an essentially constant current. For individually controlling the illumination means, switches are provided for bypassing individual illumination means, maintaining the essentially constant current in the series-connection. The switches are floating with respect to a ground potential. A coupling means is thus provided for proper control of the switches. In a development of the invention a floating local power supply is provided with each illumination means and switch for operating the switch. The local power supply is, in one embodiment, powered by the control signal that is used for controlling the bypass switch. In another embodiment provision is made for supplying power to the floating local power supply. A driving method according to the embodiments of the circuit is also described.

Abstract: The invention relates to the technical field of home networks. A home network based on the current UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) standard allows data to be interchanged between network subscriber stations. An extension to this standard also provides for the interchange of AV data (Audio/Video data). One of the basic ideas of the UPnP specification is that it is possible to control any UPnP device using a standard HTML browser. To this end, every UPnP device has a web server on which the HTML pages for controlling the device are stored. It is permissible to embed a “JAVA applet” into the HTML page in order to control the device. This means that device control can be made very convenient. However, when it is necessary to control a device which needs to interchange data on the basis of the UPnP-AV standard, the JAVA applet first needs to know whether and, if so, which devices of the MediaRenderer or MediaServer type are present in the network.

Abstract: There are provided methods and computer program products for generating code for an architecture encoding an extended register specification. A method for generating code for a fixed-width instruction set includes identifying a non-contiguous register specifier. The method further includes generating a fixed-width instruction word that includes the non-contiguous register specifier.

Abstract: A filter includes a membrane having a plurality of nanochannels formed therein. A first surface charge material is deposited on an end portion of the nanochannels. The first surface charge material includes a surface charge to electrostatically influence ions in an electrolytic solution such that the nanochannels reflect ions back into the electrolytic solution while passing a fluid of the electrolytic solution. Methods for making and using the filter are also provided.

Abstract: A seating structure, particularly a bicycle saddle, includes a load-bearing shell and a cover element for contact with a user. The shell includes a first base element made from a composite material composed of a synthetic polymeric matrix and a natural fiber-containing reinforcement. The shell may have one or more differential deformable portions. A process for making such a seating structure is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for service delivery to a client, in which the client selects a service, and establishes a connection with a system server to which it sends an identity associated with the client and an identifier of the service. The system server verifies that the client is authorized to access to the service and that the client is non-emulated. If this is verified, the service is provided to the client. In a preferred embodiment, the service is scrambled content and the system server provides a descrambling key to the client, and instructs a content server to provide the scrambled content to the client. Also claimed are a device, a system, and a system server.

Abstract: An electronically operated fuel nozzle includes a solenoid valve for dispensing fuel, an electronic board for operating the solenoid valve, electric accumulator means for electrically powering the solenoid valve and the electronic board. The solenoid valve includes an inlet pipe and an outlet pipe connected to the fuel-dispensing pipe to dispense a full flow of fuel for refueling, and a secondary channel integrated in the solenoid valve for dispensing a lower quantity of fuel for topping up, the inlet pipe and the outlet pipe are opened by an electromagnetic operating device. The secondary channel is opened by another electromagnetic operating device.

Abstract: A routing element and method for forwarding multicast traffic in a network includes grouping a collection of path-related multicast information flows from a source and associating each information flow of the collection with a multicast address from a set of multicast addresses. Forwarding information is placed in routers within the network between the sources and destinations wherein the forwarding information includes a single entry in a forwarding table using an identifier, e.g., a representative address, for the collection.

Abstract: A system and method for automatic code generation includes parsing source code in a source program to automatically generate reliability, accessibility and serviceability (RAS) code in response to the source code. The automatically generated code is executed in a check in stage. All, a portion or none of the automatically generated code is selectively removed during a check out stage to keep the source program clean and focused.

Abstract: A system and method for allocating resources in a cloud environment includes providing an abstraction layer between a cloud environment and one or more data centers by generating a virtual hypervisor as an application programming interface. Responsive to a workload request by the one or more data centers, resources are partitioned and virtual machines are instantiated in the one or more data centers using the virtual hypervisor such that non-functional requirements of the workload are addressed at the abstraction level using the virtual hypervisor.

Abstract: For recording or replaying in real-time digital HDTV signals very fast memories are required. For storage of streaming HD video data NAND flash memory based systems can be used. However, NAND flash memories have a slow write access, and they have unmasked production defects. Write or read operations can be carried out on complete physical data blocks only, and defect data blocks must not be used by the file system. Logical file system blocks are used which are larger than the physical data blocks. According to the invention the error reporting mechanism of the NAND flash memories is exploited. The video data is not only written to the non-volatile flash memories, but is also written to corresponding buffer slots (LFSB) of a volatile SRAM or DRAM memory operating in parallel. The video data are kept in the volatile memory until the flash memory holding the respective data has reported that its program or write operation succeeded.
