  • Patent number: 5823886
Abstract: The current invention is a non-restrictive wrist break feedback apparatus for producing feedback concerning wrist joint position. The invention is useful in monitoring wrist motion for any sport but particularly useful for monitoring the "breaking" motion of the wrist during the play of golf. The device provides feedback in the form of an audible signal when the position of the hand in relation to the position of the forearm deviates from a desirable range, in respect to the forearm. The wrist break feedback apparatus of the current invention includes a frame with a first member, that generally aligns with the back of the hand, and a second member, that is pivotally connected to the first member. Feedback is produced when the first member deviates from the second member by more than a predetermined amount in a transverse direction relative to the forearm due to dorsiflexion.

  • Patent number: 5714040
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for recovering fiber from printed wastepaper by loading the wastepaper and water into a continuous batch fiber recovery apparatus. The wastepaper and water are agitated within the apparatus to form a pulp fiber slurry while introducing a deinking/agglomerating composition at predetermined time intervals to cause the ink particles associated with the printed wastepaper to separate from the paper and agglomerate to form large ink particles. The agglomerated ink particles are then removed from the pulp fiber slurry using separation techniques.

  • Patent number: 5607033
Abstract: There are disclosed several embodiments of a disc brake caliper assembly in which adjustment is made for wear on the pads by a non-rotating linearly expandable and retractable linkage arranged between a brake actuator and the pads. The linkage includes inner and outer members coaxially reciprocal without rotation with respect to one another, one member having surfaces which extend at acute angle with respect to the axis and opposite surfaces on the other member which extend parallel to the axis. Circumferentially spaced wedges are disposed in the space between the angled and parallel surfaces, and springs between the first member and wedges yieldably urge the wedges in the first longitudinal direction toward the angled surfaces, the second member being movable during the braking cycle in a second longitudinal direction and thus relatively to the first member, whereby the linkage is caused to expand in order to adjust for wear.

  • Patent number: 5596997
Abstract: A female panty condom having a panty having an opening generally at the genital area of the wearer and located approximately over the vagina of the wearer. A pouch including a front side having a slit and a back side having a slit is affixed to the panty such that the opening in the panty, the slit in the front side of the pouch and the slit in the back side of the pouch are aligned. A sheath is positioned within the pouch behind the slit in the front side of the pouch such that the penis of a male partner may enter the opening of the sheath through the opening in the panty. The sheath will extend to cover the penis as it moves through the slit in the back side of the pouch and into the vagina of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 5579784
Abstract: There are disclosed two embodiments of a male condom, one of which covers only the head of the penis and the other of which is adapted to cover the fully length thereof. In each case, an elastic band is secured about the open end of the condom to fit tightly about the penis, and is mounted on a fitting ring which permits the user to hold it expanded as the condom is placed over the penis and then permits the band to be released and tightly engage the head of the penis as its end is pushed against the closed end of the condom.

  • Patent number: 5564461
Abstract: There is disclosed an assembly for connecting an rotary valve and actuator wherein the actuator has a circle of holes in its mounting face and the valve has a circle of bolt holes in its flange adapted to receive bolts intended for make up with the threaded holes of the mounting face of the actuator, but wherein, due to circumstances of the manufacture of the valve and actuator, or otherwise, the circles are of different diameter so as to prevent connection of the valve and actuator in conventional manner. Thus, connection is instead made by an assembly including a spacer plate disposed between a mounting face of the actuator and a flange, and connected by studs made up with threaded holes in the mounting face and bolts extended through the bolt holes in the flange of the valve for make up with threaded holes in the plate.

  • Patent number: 5556684
Abstract: A tufted carpet comprising a base and a plurality of tufts. Each of the tufts have a looped portion on an underside of the base. The looped portions are fused to the underside of the base and to adjacent looped portions using heat and pressure, thereby forming a homogeneous layer of the looped portions on the underside of the base.

  • Patent number: 5531544
Abstract: A pile cap of homogeneous material is disclosed that includes a top member part having a relatively large top area and a base member part having a correspondingly smaller bottom area. The sides of at least the bottom member part are thereby tapered. The bottom area preferably includes a recess for accommodating the top of a cylindrical pile. The shape distributes even an unbalanced load having an off-center moment of force to the top of the pile without creating potentially damaging shear stresses along the sides of the pile cap.

  • Patent number: 5532587
Abstract: The apparatus of the invention is a segmented pig body having an electrical instrumentation subassembly mounted thereto. The subassembly consists of a plurality sensors for electromagnetically coupling to the inner surface of the pipeline, each of which generates a signal that varies as the localized relative permeability of the pipeline metal; an odometer assembly for generating correlating data; and an instrument for recording the signal and data for later analysis. The method of the invention comprises passing the pig through the pipeline while it is electromagnetically coupled by the sensors to the inner surface of the pipeline. During the pass, signals varying with the localized magnetic permeability of the pipeline wall and correlative data are generated and recorded. After the pass, the correlative data is used to correlate the signals to wall locations to locate stress occurrences.
