Patent number: 8280528Abstract: A cochlear stimulation lead and method of making a curved electrode array are provided. In one embodiment of the lead, while the curved section of the lead is curled further beyond its originally molded curvature and held in this position, a filling channel is filled with a filling material that is hardened or cured in this held position. The resulting lead has a tip curvature that is more curved than the originally molded curvature.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2011Date of Patent: October 2, 2012Assignee: Advanced Bionics, LLCInventors: Janusz A. Patent number: 7804997Abstract: A computer automated 3D sketch artist process for generating a computer 3D image of an individual includes the steps of generating a morphable head model as a starting point to develop a composite 3D like picture of the individual by analysis of a prerecorded data base of 3D face pictures, selecting a lighting model to best depict the individual, selecting a mouth model from a prerecorded data base of mouth shapes to best depict the individual's mouth and teeth, selecting an expression model for the individual's composite 3D sketch from a prerecorded data base of facial expressions, and manipulating the generated composite 3D sketch with various morphing tools to selectively modify the composite sketch to best conform to the individual's characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2005Date of Patent: September 28, 2010Assignee: Technest Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Zheng Jason Geng, David Tunnell, Pan Gao

Patent number: 7797129Abstract: A method, apparatus and software are disclosed for simulating a running median value for a set of input data values, and for simulating a selected percentile value other than the median. A current estimated value is compared to an input data value. If the input data value is greater than the current estimated value, the current estimated value is increased in accordance with a first adjustment function. If the input data value is less than the current estimated value, the current estimated value is decreased in accordance with the second adjustment function. Different adjustment functions are disclosed for increasing or decreasing the current estimated value. The magnitude of each increase or decreases provided by an adjustment function is independent of the magnitude of the difference between the current input data value and the current estimated value.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2007Date of Patent: September 14, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Stephen James Todd

Patent number: 7765322Abstract: A system for executing a multimedia resource, for use in an environment having a first multimedia resource comprising an associated first tag, a set of multimedia resources comprising an associated set of tags, an executing component for executing the first multimedia resource. The system comprises a comparator, responsive to the first multimedia resource being executed, for comparing a second tag of the set of tags with the first tag, to determine whether a second multimedia resource is compatible with the first multimedia resource; a determining component, responsive to the second resource being compatible with the first resource, for determining in accordance with at least one rule, whether the second multimedia resource has a higher priority than the first multimedia resource; and a control component, responsive to a determination that the second multimedia resource has the higher priority, for controlling the executing component to execute the second multimedia resource.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2005Date of Patent: July 27, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines, CorporationInventors: Martin J. Gale, Ian Hughes

Patent number: 7743008Abstract: A self-adaptive resource management method and a corresponding system. An authority publishes multiple rules into a corresponding repository. Each rule defines a desired target configuration for a category of subjects. Some rules are also associated with a corresponding stage in a predefined flow of application of the rules. A supervisor publishes the value of a current stage into a workflow repository. Each subject retrieves and applies the rules for its category and corresponding to the current stage. Information about the compliance of the subjects with the corresponding rules is published in a membership data repository. The supervisor detects the completion of the current stage when the subjects are compliant with the corresponding rules, and updates the value of the current stage to start a further stage.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2004Date of Patent: June 22, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Salvatore D'Alo, Alessandro Donatelli, Giovanni Lanfranchi, Claudio Marinelli

Patent number: 7201389Abstract: A vehicle transmission includes a plurality of driven gears comprising a series of concentrically spaced ring gears. Each ring gear of the plurality of driven ring gears has an inner diametrical surface and an outer diametrical surface. Each outer diametrical surface is configured to slidingly engage the inner diametrical surface of an adjacent ring gear. The vehicle transmission further includes a biasing means for biasing each ring gear away from a driven shaft and a selective engagement means for selectively engaging one ring gear of the plurality of ring gears with the driven shaft.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2005Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Inventors: Samuel O.
