  • Patent number: 5419738
Abstract: A method of cutting free and removing a rectum of a carcass of a slaughtered animal hanging by the hind legs with a head downwardly. An apparatus including a rotating tubular knife is positioned in the vicinity of the rectum of the carcass. A guiding pin on the apparatus is inserted into the rectum of the carcass coaxially with a main axis of the rectum. The guiding pin is arranged coaxial with the rotating tubular knife. The rotating tubular knife is moved into the carcass coaxially with the main axis of the rectum, thereby cutting the rectum free of the carcass. The rectum is retained in the rotating tubular knife. The rectum is pulled free of the carcass toward a ventral side of the carcass in a direction substantially perpendicular to a main axis of the carcass. The rectum is hung downwardly over a side of a protective shield. The side of the shield faces away from the carcass.

  • Patent number: 5014302
Abstract: The invention relates to telephones that have a base and two handsets or one handset and a base acting as a second handset and which are adapted to be connected to two or more telephone lines. Unlike known telephones designed to be connected to a set number of lines and to no other, the telephone according to the invention comprises an adapter that enables it to be connected equally well to a single line as to two lines or more, depending on the maximum number of lines for which it has been designed, and to provide in each case the same scope for communication between parties as a known telephone connected to the same number of lines. The adapter preferably includes change-over switches that can be operated by acting on a control device that is accessible from outside the telephone, but it may also include change-over switches or wire connections located inside the telephone.

  • Patent number: 4301842
Abstract: A filling station for filling pleat-sided bags transports such bags in flat form to a filling position. A plurality of spreading members are disposed adjacent the front and rear faces of the bag, and have claws thereon which engage the opposing interior edges of the bag adjacent its openable mouth. The spreading members adjacent each given side of the bag are moved away from one another in a direction substantially parallel to the planes of the front and rear bag faces, and the spreading members on opposite sides of the bag are moved away from one another in directions transverse to said planes thereby to unfold the pleated side faces of the bag and open the mouth of the bag. A filling funnel disposed outside of the bag is moved into the opened mouth of the bag, and bars disposed adjacent the exterior of the several faces of the bag are moved into engagement with those faces to clamp the faces of the bag to the filling funnel during the filling of the bag.
