Abstract: A bale dewiring device uses a bale splitter to sever the strapping of the bale atop the bale and a movable hook to engage the strapping beneath the bale for retraction thereof to one side of the bale where the strapping is removed from the hook.
Abstract: A method of recovering coal liquids and producing metallurgical coke utilizes low ash, low sulfur coal as a parent for a coal char formed by pyrolysis with a volatile content of less than 8%. The char is briquetted and heated in an inert gas over a prescribed heat history to yield a high strength briquette with less than 2% volatile content.

Abstract: A hydraulic control circuit for uniform controlled movement of stripping and guiding arms in a tree delimbing apparatus. A pair of flow divider combiner valves allow equal amounts of pressurized fluid to communicate with and actuate said cylinders. The piston rods of said cylinders are mechanically coupled to rotate tubular sleeve members with affixed stripping and guide arms between outward and inward positions. The flow divider combiner valves provide equal rates of said fluid to flow to said cylinders to insure said piston rods and mechanically affixed stripping arms and guide arms are moved at equal rates of speed. Thus the stripping levers and guide arms open and close about a felled tree in a uniform manner for delimbing operations.
Abstract: An arm support cover including a sheath having an impermeable inner layer and an absorbent outer layer. The sheath is elongated and has an opening at a selected end thereof for insertion therethrough of a surgical arm support commonly used to support and secure a patient's arm during surgery so that intravascular and intramuscular hypodermics inserted within the patient's arm will not be inadvertently disturbed during the operation. Two pair of straps each including a first strap having a hooked portion and a second strap having a looped portion, are connected to the underside of the sheath. In operation, the first and second straps are wrapped in opposite direction around the sheath, support arm and patient's arm with the hook and loop portions being engaged to connect the strap and secure the patient's arm. An alternate embodiment includes a pair of straps each having a hooked portion and looped portion of hook-and-loop connector on opposite sides thereof.
Abstract: A flexible hip restraint for patient's recovering from hip surgery having a waist belt, a thigh belt and a plurality of substantially inelastic flexible and adjustable straps connected to the thigh and waist belts for limiting the movement of a patient's thigh to prevent inadvertent dislocation of the femur from the pelvic socket. The straps include a posterior strap extending over the gluteus maximus, a medial strap extending over the greater trochanter and an anterior strap extending along the anterior superior iliac spine of the pelvis.
Abstract: An improved lever latch ring for securing a cover panel having a plurality of tabs thereon to a container wherein the tabs extend beneath an outwardly extending rim forming an upper margin of the container and against an outer wall thereof. The improved lever latch ring includes an arcuate member having a lower horizontal portion that coextends the tabs. The lower horizontal portion is urged against the tabs by a lever latch connected to opposing ends of the arcuate member and when so urged confines the tabs against the outer wall and against a lower portion of the rim. A vertical portion is connected to the lower horizontal portion and extends upwardly therefrom in contact with an outermost portion of the cover panel extending intermediate the vertical portion and the rim. Engagement of the lever latch urges the vertical portion against the cover panel to press the cover panel against the rim.
Abstract: An improved rotary blowout preventer having a rotary housing rotably mounted within an outer housing and carrying an annular packer assembly hydraulically actuated by fluid circulated through the outer housing by hydraulic pumps. An annular adapter is detachably and reattachably connected to an upper rim of the rotary housing. The adapter has a tubular, elastomeric sleeve detachably and reattachably connected thereto that depends within the rotary housing adjacent the packer assembly. A drill pipe is received within the sleeve and is sealably engaged thereby when the packer assembly is urged inwardly by the circulated hydraulic fluid. The sleeve protects the packer assembly from wear and is easily replaced with other sleeves of like configuration. The sleeve has a plurality of rigid grippers seated therein which extend flush with an inner surface thereof for gripping the drill pipe to facilitate concomitant rotation of the sleeve and rotary housing therewith.

Abstract: A bracket full automatically securing a transformer to a utility pole, wherein the bracket includes an elongated base attached to the utility pole, a multi-linked belt for attaching the base to the utility pole, and a keeper pivotally connected to the base for automatically engaging a carrier connected to the transformer when said carrier is positioned on said keeper. The bracket further includes means for automatically locking the keeper in a closed position about said carrier and means for automatically anchoring a lower portion of the transformer to the base concurrent with the engagement of the carrier by the keeper.
Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning chicken droppings from one or more mats used as nesting material in chicken nests in a chicken house. The invention includes a housing having a plurality of rollers therein for conveying a mat and pulverizing the chicken droppings adhering thereto. The rollers are paired with each pair including a fluted roller having a plurality of axially extending ridges thereon and a cylindrical roller defining a plurality of radial grooves thereon which cooperate with the ridges to pulverize the chicken droppings. Sprayers are provided to dislodge the pulverized chicken droppings from the mat. A plurality of guide plates are provided to guide the mat through the enclosure and support the mat during spraying.
