  • Patent number: 5439081
Abstract: A compressed coolant hydraulic brake rotor is provided for reducing heat energy build-up, thereby minimizing warping and deterioration of the rotor and brake pads. The rotor provides an enclosed volume and a valve assembly used for insertion of a fluid coolant medium, such as freon, within the enclosed volume, which houses a plurality of interior surface support fins. The rotor is "enclosed" in order to contain and govern the fluid coolant medium. As the rotor is engaged and begins to rotate, centrifugal force pressurizes the coolant medium within the enclosed volume and causes the fluid coolant medium to compress. The compressed coolant medium functions as a heat sink to draw heat energy away from the rotor, therefore to cool the rotor by heat energy transfer therefrom. The rotor may be used in any type of vehicle that functions with brakes.

  • Patent number: 5424500
Abstract: The present invention is for use with high-tension electrical switchgear enclosed within a cabinet. The output shaft of a spring operating mechanism mounted on the exterior of the main safety door extends through the door and is connected to a bell crank. As the shaft rotates the bell crank, it imparts force to a first substantially vertical push rod which in turn imparts force to a second bell crank. An arm of the second bell crank imparts force to a second push rod which is connected to a lever arm that is connected to the operating shaft of the electrical switch, thereby opening or closing the switch. The first push rod has ball joints at both ends and a free twisting joint along the rod, thereby allowing opening of the door without disconnecting the operating mechanism. A push rod connected to the first bell crank engages a lip affixed to the cabinet wall to prevent opening of the door when the switch is closed.

  • Patent number: 5421254
Abstract: The present invention is designed for used with ordinary covered cooking pots, and provides a mechanism for continuous basting of meat with added liquid and natural juices that have been heated to high temperatures. A concave base plate with notches on its edge is placed in the bottom of a cooking pot, with the edge of the plate resting against the bottom of the pot. A hollow, tubular stem is inserted vertically into an aperture in the base plate. A perforated tray with supports extending from its bottom surface is placed over the base plate. A cut of meat is placed on the tray, with the stem extending through a hole cut into the meat. A perforated plate is placed around the upper end of the stem and a flat bonnet is attached to the plate directly over the end of the stem. The pot is filled with liquid to a level below that of the meat tray and is covered. As the pot is heated, the liquid in the bottom of the pot is forced upward through the stem.

  • Patent number: 5419264
Abstract: A backsplash molding for counter tops and method for manufacturing the backsplash molding and related edge molding. The backsplash molding fits over the top of a retainer strip in a dovetail manner. This retainer strip affixes to a wall or is formed within the framework of a cabinet. Finished retainer strips and elongated strips are formed from a single piece of substrate material. The strips are shaped, laminated and cut to produce a finished backsplash element and a finished edge molding for installation with a counter top.

  • Patent number: 5400253
Abstract: An automated system that constantly collects data from the tank monitor system, the fuel dispensing system and the point of sale equipment for the purpose of inventory reconciliation through statistical data analysis. The results of this data analysis is then transmitted by telephone means periodically to a central computer for further processing. This system will notify the central computer to indicate that a problem exists when any of the inventories have reached a minimum level or fail to reconcile due to unknown reasons. This system is designed to prevent loss of sales due to insufficient inventory and/or loss of inventory due to miscalibration of fuel dispensers, theft or tank leakage. This invention will interface with any equipment capable of serial communication and can be installed at existing service stations with a minimum amount of disruption to commerce.

  • Patent number: 5388827
Abstract: A golf club, such as a putter, utilizes a removable shaft which is attached by threaded members extending axially of the shaft. The threaded members can be of varying weights to vary the pressure of the putter relative to the putting surface speed. Alternative embodiments affix the shaft with double threaded members.

  • Patent number: 5384961
Abstract: An apparatus for shaving that contains a rectangular dispenser detachably connected between a razor handle and a disposable blade carrying head. The dispenser includes a reservoir that may be divided into open compartments that are in direct communication with separate conduits in the blade head that extend adjacent to the blades carried by the disposable head. Once installed, placing the apparatus's beneath a running faucet fills the reservoir and the internal baffling structure retains the water in the apparatus until contact with the user's face. The user applies a water soluble lubricant to the face and allows the lubricant to dry into a film. Shaving foam may also be applied to the face over the dry lubricant. When the blades are placed against the user's face, the water flows from the reservoir onto the blades and the user's face adjacent thereto to reactivate the lubricant just prior to the passage of the blades thereover.

  • Patent number: 5383672
Abstract: An improved sealing structure for a rotary kiln utilized a leaf riding band attached to a truing flange on the kiln's rotating hopper using a plurality of clamps connected to a radial flange on the leaf riding band. The clamps hold the truing flange and radial in abutting sealing relationship without the need for bolts passing through the truing ring.
