  • Patent number: 8256287
Abstract: A system and device that provides for the retention of a sensor shield for a sensor such as a microphone, hydrometer, chemical sensor, or other detector. This invention provides for the quick attachment and release of a reduced visibility and reduced bulk shield retention assembly. In a battlefield environment, a smaller profile sensor shield presents less visibility as a prospective target of interest to enemy forces. Also, the sensor shield may be readily replaced without the use of any tools. The snap-lock feature provides a positive means for holding, for example, a windscreen in its respective position, requiring reasonable, but yet not objectionable force to install and remove the windscreen from the sensor's mounting shaft. Furthermore, the snap-lock feature, when engaged, may provide positive location of the sensor shield's sweet spot by maintaining a slight air space between the sensor shield and the sensor, and thereby precluding direct physical contact.

  • Patent number: 8258061
Abstract: A circumferential portion of an epitaxial wafer is removed to remove an anomalously grown elevated portion formed in a circumferential chamfer. An epitaxial layer in the circumferential portion is removed with a width q=t to 5t wherein t is the thickness of the epitaxial layer so that the surface of a substrate is exposed. Therefore, cracking of the epitaxial layer in processing steps can be prevented.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to separate a surface layer of a product in the food industry. The apparatus includes a transport device to transport the product from an input region to an output region and a pressure device to press the product against the transport device. A separating device is arranged in the output region to separate the surface layer from the product. The separating device defines a separating gap between the separating device and the transport device. A substantially cylindrical, rotatably controllable deflecting device is arranged in the output region. The deflecting device has a shape varying in the axial direction and/or a circumferential direction. Abstract: A system provides a unified way for a user to manage a number of separate online advertising accounts. A simple and secure web page accessible through an ordinary web browser is used to both control and receive data from the separate accounts. The user can alter aspects of the various accounts (bid amount per click, etc.) and these changes will be relayed to the individual accounts. The system also includes a “ticker” application that operates constantly on the user's personal computer and displays selected online data in a separate window that can quickly be brought to the front and checked as needed. The system also provides visual or audible alarms when the data from the online accounts indicate that certain preset threshold have been passed. The system also provides the user with a variety of custom reports enabling the user to better control and exploit online advertising.

  • Patent number: 8241155
Abstract: The danger of damage caused by flying fragments from a shattered baseball bat is greatly reduced or eliminated by wrapping a portion of the bat with nearly invisible polymeric film. Although extremely thin, the film shows great tensile strength and retains wood fragments should the bat shatter in use. Preferably the region of the bat where the handle portion transitions into the barrel portion is wrapped because this area is the most prone to shatter. This leaves the barrel of the bat completely unaltered. Where game rules permit thin strips of film can also be applied to the sides of the barrel as an additional precaution although the barrel is relatively unlikely to shatter in use.
