  • Patent number: 7967390
Abstract: A machine and method are disclosed for deconstructing walls and other substantially vertical surfaces. The machine comprises a static, stand-alone support-frame. A carriage is movably mounted on the support-frame, which carriage is operable to be raised and lowered along the support-frame adjacent to a workface. To the carriage are mounted one or more nozzles, preferably the nozzles are mounted to the carriage by means of a nozzle carrier that is operable to move back and forth along the length of the carriage. The nozzles are connected to a high-pressure supply of an erosive material, preferably water. The erosive material, when forced through the nozzles, form jet streams that are directed against the surface of the workface, thereby eroding the surface. Optionally, the invention comprises means of yawing or means of rotating the nozzles in order to access the sidewalls of the opening in the workface produced by the invention.

  • Patent number: 7866196
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a circular metal tank, from an elongated sheet of metal. The upper and lower longitudinal edges of the metal sheet are bent to produce a first “L” bend and a second “chair” bend, respectively. The sheet of metal is moved in a helical trajectory such that the second bend comes into proximity above the first bend. The second bend and the first bend are welded together such that the wall of the cylindrical tank is formed. Welding of the bends serves to stress relieve or anneal the bent metal, thereby preventing cracks in the metal which may result in leaks and/or compromise the structural integrity of the tank. The first and second bends additionally cooperate to form a helical roller track on the outside of the tank. The tank is supported and rotated about its longitudinal axis on a plurality of rollers that engage the roller track.

  • Patent number: 7836526
Abstract: A hot tub or spa (100) has a vanishing or overflow edge (110) not readily visible to a user. Water from the main holding area (101) overflows the edge (110) into a catch basin (102). A reservoir (120) holds a constant head of water to provide to a pump (112) and also allows for the holding of increased amounts of water displaced by users who are using the hot tub (100). Water flowing over the vanishing edge (110) flows into the catch basin (102) and thence to the reservoir (120) and pump (112) where the water is recirculated into the spa (100).

  • Patent number: 7815158
Abstract: There is provided a double-hinged wheel hanger for hanging a wheel on a hoist arm. The wheel hanger includes a clevis with parallel top plate and bottom plate connected by a perpendicular base plate. In one preferred embodiment the distance between the top plate and the bottom plate is substantially the same as the height dimension of the hoist arm so that the hoist arm can be received between the top plate and the bottom plate. The wheel hanger has an elongate support arm. A proximal end of the support arm is rotatably received by a recess in a distal end of an arm-connector. A proximal end of the arm-connector is rotatably received between the top plate and the bottom plate of the clevis by means of a vertical hinge. The support arm is rotatable both in the horizontal plane and the vertical plane.

  • Patent number: 7593411
Abstract: A bus interface for transfer of SONET/SDH data that supports a plurality of SONET/SDH flows. The invention supports two line coding schemes: 8B/10B encoding of STS-12, and SONET scrambled coding for STS-12, STS-48, and STS-51. The invention additionally supports two modes of line testing: entire links can be tested by inserting and checking PRBS sequences, and the SPE payload of the largest concatenated STS-Nc which the link can carry (STS-12c, STS-48c, STS-51c) can be individually tested by inserting and checking PRBS sequences.

  • Patent number: 7500284
Abstract: A turf sweeping machine having a frame, front and rear wheels coupled to the frame and an elongated chute mounted to the frame, the chute having an exit and an entrance at a level proximate to the grass of the turf. Rubber skirts are affixed to the chute and extend down to the grass of the turf across front, rear, and side walls of the chute. A rotatable brush is mounted to the frame, proximate to a bottom of the chute and extends across a width of the frame so that the brush brushes grass of a turf support surface. A hopper, which is also mounted on the frame, has an opening in fluid communication with the exit of the chute, and is positioned to receive material swept up the chute by the brush. A partial vacuum is created by rotation of the brush within the confines of the skirts and chute. This vacuum assists the brush in picking up waste material from the support surface.

  • Patent number: 7239727
Abstract: A method of verifying identity which includes recording coordinates of a reference signature which include two dimensional space coordinates x and y exerted by a writer's writing instrument on a recording medium. The method measures and records an indicium, which identifies a reference biometric within the reference signature having a selected characteristic. Next the reference biometric and the indicium are placed on a portable, readable substrate. The coordinates of an unknown signature which include two dimensional space coordinates x and y covered by a writer's writing instrument are also recorded. The method further includes reading and storing the indicium and the reference biometric in memory and using the indicium to locate an extracted biometric within the unknown signature. The extracted biometric is compared to the reference biometric to determine if they match within predetermined threshold criteria.
