  • Patent number: 8154666
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed to detect a broad class of signals including Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) digital television (DTV) and wireless microphone signals. This signal detection method performs in Gaussian noise, employing Higher Order Statistics (HOS). Signals are processed in time and frequency domains as well as by real and imaginary components. The spectrum sensing employed also supports Denial of Service (DoS) signal classification. The method can include parameters that may be tailored to adjust the probability of detection and false alarm.

  • Patent number: 8142078
Abstract: A filling-packaging body formed to have both such a durability that can withstand a large amount of filled material filled therein and easily unsealing property. The filling-packaging body (1) is formed by filling the filled material in a three-side seal bag having an overlapped part formed by cylindrically curving a laminated film (10) and overlapping both side edge parts of the laminated film, a plurality of vertical seal parts (2a) and (2b) (two seal parts are shown) formed at the overlapped part roughly parallel with each other in such a state that a band-like non-seal part (5) is left at the tip side of the outer surface side-edge part of the overlapped part, and lateral seal parts (3) and (4) formed to cross the longitudinal both end parts of the vertical seal parts (2a) and (2b). The laminated film (10) is formed by interposing a base material layer (12) for imparting strength to the film between an inner layer (11) and an outer layer (13) which are seal layers formed of a low density polyethylene.

  • Patent number: 8117098
Abstract: A computer-based system and method calculates and facilitates revenue accrual, for making larger, less frequent payments of estimated taxes or other obligations. Payer preferences are applied to satisfy variable payment intervals, amounts, and available resources. The obligation, required payments, and set-aside schedules are recalculated as needed, under payer and/or system control. Excess accruals are minimized; set-aside schedules are configurable. The system may be self-contained, handheld, or accessed remotely. Automatic datalinks move information and command fund transfers from the payer's bank, to accrue funds and make payments to other accounts. A service host may support a plurality of payers to make set-asides and payments at various levels as needed, on an individual or batch basis, including individual taxpayer enrollment for batch file tax payments by service providers. Some embodiments can be embedded to enhance the capabilities of other systems.

  • Patent number: 8114321
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for managing thermal energy transfer between a mold, die or cavity and a thermal transfer fluid. The thermal energy being exchanged with the mold, die or cavity is calculated in real time as a function of the temperature differential between inlet and outlet fluid temperatures, the volumetric rate of fluid delivery, and known characteristics of the fluid. The rate of thermal energy exchange is controlled by varying the fluid delivery rate in accordance with a desired thermal energy exchange profile.

  • Patent number: 8083573
Abstract: A rotary floor sanding machine has a vertically oriented bell housing with a backside floor support and a dust suction port for removing dust from within. The bell housing encloses the sides and backside of a disk casing and rotary sanding pad. The floor support is configured to place the floor contact area of the sanding pad forward of center. There is a lifting vane extending from proximate the floor contact area of the sanding pad in the direction of rotation towards the suction port in the bell housing to elevate dust particles to the higher velocity airflow near the suction port. There may be a shield for reducing the floor level opening between the back edge of the disk casing and the bell housing.

  • Patent number: 8085178
Abstract: A digital to analog converter (DAC) method and apparatus employs a multiplying-adding DAC, eliminating digital adder circuitry. Examples are given for multiplying a 3-bit binary number by a 2-bit binary number; however, there are no limitations to the bit-widths of the numbers to be multiplied. The multiplying-adding DAC method can be scaled up or down in bit-width by feeding the DAC with partial sums and adjusting the DAC weights accordingly. An analog to digital converter (ADC) can be placed after the DAC to generate a digital output. By multiplexing preset digital data into the DAC core for return to zero (RTZ), a true zero that is the midpoint of the DAC output range is achieved. It does not return to a rail for single-ended outputs. RTZ in DAC circuits doubles the null frequency of sin(x)/x roll-off inherent in DACs and also helps reduce switching glitches in the DAC output.
