  • Patent number: 6321032
Abstract: A brushless repulsion motor which includes a stator and rotor rotatably mounted on the stator is provided. The stator and rotor are contained within a first housing, the stator having at least one pair of poles, a field winding on the stator for producing a field on the stator, and a plurality of coils on the rotor adapted to electromagnetically interact with the field of the stator winding. Switches are located on the rotor shaft outside the first housing to selectively short successive ones of the coils when the coils are in a preferred angular position relative to the stator poles. Thus, the stator field is effective to induce a current in the rotor and produce a resultant relative rotation between the rotor and the stator which can be controlled by non-contact signaling means which activate the switches.

  • Patent number: 6298759
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-spindle machine tool, in particular a multi-spindle automatic lathe with several workpiece spindle units. These are arranged around a central axis, can be driven rotationally and can be advanced from one machining position to the next. In order to provide the greatest possible flexibility in the machining of workpieces in a machine of this type, the invention envisages that the workpiece spindle units can be moved independently of one another along a movement path running around the central axis. The machining positions are designed in the form of machining segments within whose limits the respective workpiece spindles or workpiece spindle units can move along the movement path during a machining process.

  • Patent number: 6299336
Abstract: An improved low profile mounting arrangement is provided for a telescoping tube construction applied to the roof of a vehicle. The lowest mast section is nested between two vertically upright shaft support plates which journal a pivot shaft rotatably secured to a collar affixed to the bottom of the lowest mast section whereby rotation of the pivot shaft causes the telescoping mast to rotate from a horizontal to a vertically upright position. A pivot link mounted to an end of the pivot shaft extends downward adjacent a support plate side opposite to the side facing the telescoping mast so that an actuator secured to the pivot link is mounted on the side of the telescoping mast construction to achieve a low profile mount with minimal vertical elevation.

  • Patent number: 6282922
Abstract: The method of the invention provides that a predetermined quantity of molten glass necessary for producing molded glass bodies according to the press-molding method is poured into a press mold prior to the insertion of the molding plug while the press mold is located in the press station, and that the molded glass body is removed after the molding plug is withdrawn from the press mold, with this mold likewise being located in the pressing station. This method renders a mold transport superfluous. The invention also relates to an apparatus suitable for executing the method, in which the molding plug can be pivoted laterally from its initial position located outside of the press mold about an axis extending transversely to the center axis of the molding plug.
