  • Patent number: 6048242
Abstract: The inner surface of a barrel for a traveling wave tube is formed with a set of tracks extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the barrel. The rods supporting the traveling wave tube circuit assembly are supported in the tracks. The tracks are formed by forcing a tool having track-forming elements through the barrel, or a succession of ever-larger tools may be used to first form and then gradually enlarge the tracks.

  • Patent number: 6043727
Abstract: A reconfigurable filter system designed using micro-elecro-mechanical (MEM) switches is disclosed. The filter comprises a transmission line with one or more filter stubs coupled to the transmission line by MEM switches. The impedance of the filter system is altered by selectively opening and closing the MEM switches, which alters the filter characteristics of the filter system. Alternatively, the characteristics of the filter system are altered by using the MEM switches to selectively alter the length of filter stubs attached to the transmission line.

  • Patent number: 5657163
Abstract: The image source of a head up display for a motor vehicle is illuminated from a remote high intensity source using fiber optics. The HUD image source and optics are under the dash pad of the vehicle and include color LCD or color filtered image source. The image is lighted by a high intensity light source which yields a bright projected image and which generates substantial heat. The light source includes lamps in a fan-cooled heat sink located in the vehicle engine compartment, for example, and coupled to the image source by fiber optic light guides. The light guides abut the image source to uniformly light small image patterns commensurate with the light guide size, or light spreading techniques are used for larger image patterns.

  • Patent number: 4739496
Abstract: Associative holography memory apparatus is disclosed which employs a hologram and two phase conjugate mirrors. The mirrors are arranged to form a conjugate resonator whereby the output image from the apparatus tends to converge to that stored image most closely associated with an input image. Alternate embodiments are described which employ a multiple storage and erasure hologram, and which employ only a single phase conjugate mirror.
