    Abstract: In a method for the production of a sealing and adhesive strip, particularly for the direct glazing of motor vheicles, using a moisture-hardening single-component polyurethane composition based on telechelic isocyanate prepolymers of aromatic diisocyanates in stoichiometric excess and polyols a composition is employed comprising a) a catalyst for the moisture-hardening and b) a blocked activatable cross-linking agent, and a solvent or solvent mixture is continually injected into the inside of the strip during the extrusion of the strip which liberate the cross-linking agent.For the implementation of the method an extrusion nozzle for the sealing and adhesive strip is used which comprises an injection needle for the solvent opening into the nozzle, the exit opening of which points in the extrusion direction and is located in the region of the center axis of the extrusion die forming the strip.

    Abstract: A novel class of polyimides useful in making semipermeable membranes for gas separation is synthesized by the reaction of 4,4'-[hexafluoroisopropylidene]-bis-[phthalic anhydride] (6FDA) with 3,7-diamino-2,8-dimethyldiphenylenesulfone (AMPS). In lieu of the two methyl groups the diamine may be substituted by H or C.sub.2-4 alkyl. Membranes made from the polyimides have high permeability for CO.sub.2 from mixtures containing CO.sub.2 and other gases such as CH.sub.4 and have commercially acceptable selectivity.

The improvement comprises providing flexible coupling members having two open ends and a passage between said ends; and securing the first end of a coupling member to the residual end of each membrane element (with the optional exception of the last in the series) and securing the second end of the coupling member to the feed end of the next membrane element in the series if any. Fluid from the residual end of each membrane element except the last may thus be directed to the feed end of the next membrane element. An improved fluid separation module employing such couplings is disclosed; as is an improved membrane element having a coupling member secured thereto.

    Abstract: In a process for bonding two substantially flat elements, a highly viscous sealant containing balls as spacers is applied to a first element in a thickness at least corresponding to the desired distance from the second element and the latter is engaged and pressed onto the first element. The balls (6) are successively added to the sealant in an applicator nozzle (2) prior to the application of the sealant. This process can be performed with an apparatus having an applicator nozzle (2) for the supply and application of the sealant (4) and a ball supply device (10). The latter contains a supply duct (12) for supplying the balls (6), an outlet tube (14) connected at an angle to supply duct (12) and issues via an opening (16) laterally into the applicator nozzle (2) and an impact plunger (18), which is movable by the end remote from applicator nozzle (2) into the outlet tube (14).

A suitable device for relieving the reversed pressure differential includes a body, a poppet movably mounted to the body and biased to a closed position until the selected pressure differential is reached, and a seal for preventing gas flow through the device when the poppet is closed.

    Abstract: A two-component material based on curable prepolymers and conventional additives is described which, unlike conventional two-component materials, contains hardenable prepolymer in both individual components, the prepolymer in the first component being a polyurethane prepolymer with free NCO-groups and the prepolymer in the second component is a polymer with free SH-groups. The first component contains curing agent and optionally accelerator for the polymer with free SH-groups and the second component contains curing agent and optionally accelerator for the polyurethane prepolymer with free NCO-groups. Through the use of two prepolymers, the two components of the two-component material can be used in a volume ratio favorable for practical purposes. It is also possible to set the viscosity and density of the two individual components to roughly the same values, so that no problems are caused when mixing the two components.
