Abstract: An adhesive applicator is provided for applying liquid adhesive to the edge of thin, stiff material such as abutting edges of carpet. The adhesive applicator includes a liquid adhesive reservoir to which is attached an applicator cap having a vertical and horizontal guide surface, and an adhesive orifice located on the vertical surface at a predetermined height above the horizontal surface to deliver liquid adhesive at a predetermined distance above the horizontal surface. In use, the applicator is inverted, the material having an edge on which adhesive is to be applied is aligned so that the bottom of the material rests on the horizontal guide surface and the edge abuts the vertical guide surface, and the applicator cap is moved along the edge maintaining this alignment. The applicator cap can also include a captive closure cap for closing and opening the orifice as desired.
Abstract: Apparatus for the seriatim separation and feeding of garment parts from a shingled stack of the parts to a predetermined destination. Comprising the apparatus is a movable hold down mechanism for engaging the trailing edge of the second part in the stack and a picker head for engaging the leading edge of the first part in the shingled stack and removing it from the stack. Mechanisms are provided for accurately determining the location of the trailing edge of the second part in the stack and moving the hold down mechanism into position to accurately engage the trailing edge of the second part in the stack. Following separation, the separated part is transferred to a second location at which the head is withdrawn from the transferred part.
Abstract: An inexpensive, lightweight apparatus and method is provided for removing coagulum and other debris from the tip of cautery blades and needles during use and for holding cautery blades and needles when not in use. The cleaner comprises a pad having a lower compressible portion and an upper fibrous abrasive portion which is mounted to a hard, non-compressible base. The apparatus can be attached to a surgical drape or other accessible surface to permit cleaning using only one hand to manipulate the cauterizing instrument. Cautery tips and other sharp surgical instruments are cleaned by plunging them into, and then withdrawing them from, the abrasive pad. The pad also provides a convenient structure for holding cautery tips and other sharp surgical instrument in a point down, base up configuration when the instruments are not in use.
