  • Patent number: 6373914
Abstract: An in-situ testing apparatus for testing the integrity of rib plugs used to seal faulty reactor boiler tubes consists of a cup-shaped member with a groove on the open end, a tapped hole for attaching a hydraulic hose of known pressure, and a hole through the top of the member. A seal is installed in the groove on the open end of the cup to seal to the primary face of a tubesheet around the tested rib plug. A threaded mandrel goes through the hole in the top of the cup-shaped member and engages the expander member of the rib plug. The threading action of the mandrel into the expander draws the seal against the tubesheet to seal the testing apparatus and allows the rib plug to be in-situ pressure tested.

  • Patent number: 6311229
Abstract: A coding system for various I/O module elements of an I/O cabinet assembly is disclosed which is able to identify analog, digital and control I/O modules by appropriate functional representation combined with a distinct color code found on the front of each module and to identify appropriate internal field wiring connections in the identified module by the module identifying color. Each module has a written identification such as A—for analog, D—for digital and C—for control, I—for input, O—for output combined with an appropriate color bar identifying the type of module. Thus process and terminal blocks forming and I/O unit are easily matched for assembly and are easily inserted into an I/O cabinet in the proper location.

  • Patent number: 6161046
Abstract: An implantable hearing device for improvement of extreme partial and total hearing loss has a transducer mounted to the malleus of the ossicular chain by METABOND adhesive. The device responds to auditory vibrations of the malleus to establish an electrical signal in response thereto. For total hearing loss restoration, a speech processing unit is mounted inside the mastoid cavity having a intracochlear electrode which is inserted into the cochlea through the oval window to reach the nerve endings thereof and transmit speech signals capable of being understood by the brain. For total hearing loss a totally implantable system with a rechargeable battery, receiving antenna for remote control of on/off switch, volume, speech processor and programing is used with a biologic-electronic microphone activated by the implanted rechargeable battery to interact with implanted electronics for transmission of electrical signals from the transducer directly to the cochlear nerve endings.
