  • Patent number: 3979846
Abstract: A device for use in maintaining that portion of a poster between upper and lower edge portions thereof in a flat configuration. First and second rigid frame piece assemblies removably engage upper and lower horizontal edge portions of the poster and are disposed to the rear thereof. First end portions of first and second elongate members engage the first and second frame assemblies with the elongate members situated to the rear of the poster, and with the elongate members being of sufficient length that the second end portions thereof overlap. The overlapping second end portions are frictionally and adjustably engaged by holding means to permit the device to be moved from a first to a second position, and when the poster device is in the second position, that portion thereof between the first and second end portions is slightly tensioned and disposed in a flat configuration whereby the poster and the device may be suspended from a wall by a conventional picture hanger.

  • Patent number: 3974999
Abstract: A combined staple removing and retrieving device that includes two pivotally connected elongate ferrous members of channel shaped transverse cross section that define first and second claws on first ends thereof, which claws at least partially overlap one another when the device is pivoted from a first position to a second position to remove a staple from a number of papers through which the staple extends. The device in a first form includes a permanent magnet means that retrieve a staple and hold it in a first removable position on the device after the first and second claws have removed the staple from a number of papers. In a second form of the invention the claws are permanently magnetized to retrieve a staple after it has been removed from a fastening position. A third form of the invention employs permanently magnetized spring means to not only maintain the first and second members in a first position but to retrieve a staple after it is removed from a fastening position.

  • Patent number: 3974762
Abstract: Apparatus for disposing rubber bands around a movable fixture in preparation for banding of a produce bunch, including vertically articulated pins disposed around the periphery of a produce receiving opening, the pins being connected at their bottom ends to a vertically articulated spring-supported platform. The platform includes a vertically adjustable false bottom surface which is depressed by the produce bunch to withdraw the pins and release the rubber band to band the bunch. Also included is a rubber band dispensing yoke, Y-shaped in planform, having disposed on the center leg thereof a supply of rubber bands and having the two distal branch legs engaging selected pins. By way of this arrangement the rubber band is aligned over the exterior periphery of the selected pins and can then be manually stretched around the remaining pins.
