Abstract: A panel transducer includes a diaphragm with areas of multiple electrical conductors, two rows of magnetic bars, two metal plates and a clamping frame. The diaphragm is clamped in the clamping frame and is positioned between the two rows of magnetic bars. Each row of magnetic plates is in close proximity to the clamped diaphragm. Each metal plate has holes. The holes correspond to spacing areas between the magnetic bars and acoustically connect the diaphragm to outside media. The magnetic bars are sequentially located on the metal plates with spacing between the magnetic bars. The diaphragm is secured to the clamping frame and has an active surface area under tension spaced inwardly of the clamping frame. There are no side magnetic bars at the ends of each of the row. Absorbing strips are used in place of the absent magnetic bars filling the space between the side magnetic bars and the clamping frame.

Abstract: A transparent coating is used on an optical information disk. The optical information disk is an injection-molded piece of clear poly-carbonate plastic and is impressed with microscopic bumps which are arranged as a single, continuous, extremely long spiral track of data. A thin, reflective aluminum layer is sputtered onto the optical information disc so that the thin, reflective aluminum layer covers the bumps. A thin acrylic layer is sprayed over the thin, reflective aluminum layer in order to protect it. The transparent coating is a composite material which is made of silica as the discontinuous phase and of a polytetrafluoro-ethylene-derived organic polymer as the continuous phase which leads to a fluorine-containing silica-based product. The transparent coating is applied by spin or dip from specific solutions at room temperature followed by a mild and short heat treatment.
Abstract: A process for fabricating ceramic composites employs a thermoplastic photo-curable pre-ceramic polymer in which the component is shape by a variety of standard composite fabrication techniques, such as filament winding, tape winding, and woven cloth winding. The process includes steps of passing ceramic fiber monofilament, tow, mat, or woven cloth through a solution of said thermoplastic photo-curable pre-ceramic polymer, applying ceramic fiber monofilament, tow, mat, or woven cloth to a moving flat substrate, using a compaction roller to press the thermoplastic pre-ceramic polymer coated ceramic fiber onto flat substrate, using photo-light of the ultraviolet, visible, or infrared light spectrum to induce cross-linking (curing) of the photo-curable pre-ceramic polymer thereby rendering a thermoset polymer and either partially or completely pyrolyzing the now cured pre-ceramic polymer matrix coated ceramic fiber material.
