  • Patent number: 8256186
Abstract: A formed building element or “log” comprising a top filler section and a bottom filler section affixed on opposite sides of a center reinforcement member. The center reinforcement member may be a steel or metal rod or tube. The reinforcement member, which may be of approximately the same length of the filler sections, has one end extending out from the end of the building element. The extended end may have a vertical hole extending from top to bottom, adapted to accept a rod pin, which may or may not be threaded. Matching holes extend from the top to bottom of the filler section at the opposite end of the building element, so adjacent building elements may be attached end-to-end.

  • Patent number: 7963084
Abstract: A synchronously deployable tetrahedral truss beam with orthogonally-hinged diagonals, having uniquely-connected transverse members and folding chordal members, where a plurality of bays can extend and retract in a coordinated manner without need for a deployment canister mechanism or other assembling means. The triangular cross-section truss can be adapted to deploy pre-attached panels or nodally-attached payload components. These triangular beams can be mounted side-by-side with a common chord to create a synchronously deployable trapezoidal cross-section beam or space-frame. Both the triangular and trapezoidal configurations can be adapted to deploy with a prescribed curvature of the longitudinal axis, and form perimeter trusses which can be post-tensioned for maximum structural performance.

  • Patent number: 7822634
Abstract: A system and method to diagnose, design, deploy, and manage a work role in the context of the complex modern relationship or affiliation existing between the organization and worker. Universally applicable organizing principles, process and software are combined to make a practical approach to the diagnostics, design and deployment of work roles inclusive of worker/talent relations, and predictably determine, reveal probabilities, address causation factors and uncover issues that may lead to success, failure, remedy or improvement in forming and maintaining productive, mutually-satisfying work role relations.

  • Patent number: 7249117
Abstract: A system and method for processing information in unstructured or structured form, comprising a computer running in a distributed network with one or more data agents. Associations of natural language artifacts may be learned from natural language artifacts in unstructured data sources, and semantic and syntactic relationships may be learned in structured data sources, using grouping based on a criteria of shared features that are dynamically determined without the use of a priori classifications, by employing conditional probability constraints.

  • Patent number: 7146786
Abstract: An electric linear deck lift assembly for raising and lowering in a controlled and accurate manner the cutting deck of a lawnmower to a variety of different heights, including preset heights. An electric motor drives a linear drive rod connected to the cutting deck, thus raising and lowering the cutting deck to particular heights as determined by a positional sensor which monitors the position of the linear drive rod or an encoder which monitors the direction and number of rotations of the electric motor. Also disclosed is a combination of two or more deck lift assemblies for raising and lowering different sides of a cutting deck.

  • Patent number: 7144423
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a multifocal intraocular lens provides greater or lesser refraction in relation to the position of the head and eyes of a user. A multifocal intraocular lens body for insertion into a fluid-filled enucleated natural lens capsule of an eye is provided wherein the lens body encompasses the optical axis of the eye and provides different greater or lesser refraction depending upon the position of the eye. In a second embodiment, the lens body can be used with an artificial lens capsule implanted within an eye.

  • Patent number: 6784772
Abstract: An electric solenoid with adaptable terminals and posts to connect to a variety of different electric connectors, and with a multiple-eared mounting plate permitting mounting in a variety of configurations. The solenoid posts combine internally-threaded female post receptors integrally molded into the solenoid casing, with removable post studs, one end of which is threaded to screw into the respective female post receptor. The other end of the removable post studs are also threaded, and can be formed in a variety of different sizes to accommodate a variety of connectors as needed for a particular application. The energizing terminal (and ground terminal, if present) can accommodate a variety of connector types, including eyelet leads, push-on connectors, and spade connectors.

  • Patent number: 6717281
Abstract: A drive system which integrates an electric generator, one or more electric motors and an electronic control module is configured as a variable speed drive in either single, dual or four wheeled traction drive configurations for a vehicle. The generator is mechanically driven by the output shaft of an internal combustion engine to generate the electrical power for energizing the electric motors. A central computer in the electronic control module controls the output voltage of the generator and the speed and torque of each of the motors in the drive system. The speed input signal for the motors can be analog signals that come from sources such as a joystick, a potentiometer mounted on a steering wheel, control panel, foot pedal or remote location or digital signals from a digital device. Position/speed detectors on each motor and the generator send signals back to the central computer for closed-loop control of the generator and of the motors.
