  • Patent number: 5697654
Abstract: A security door assembly or locking mechanism for securing a single door in locking engagement with an adjacent door jamb structure comprises a first elongate metal blade to be received by a matching elongate groove in a vertical edge of a door. A second elongate metal blade is received by a matching groove in an upper horizontal edge of the door. Mechanical devices are provided for moving said blades partially from the grooves in the door into engagement with receiving grooves in the adjacent door jamb structure to lock the door. The vertical and horizontal blades are coupled together by a linkage mechanism which enables both blades to be operated simultaneously upon actuation of a single lever or knob. The blades and the linkage mechanism are mounted in an L-shaped housing inserted into grooves formed in adjacent edges of the door. • Patent number: 5521549
Abstract: A closed-loop power control system includes an analog input and an analog output. An analog signal applied to the analog input is summed with an analog signal derived from the analog output to produce a difference signal representative of the polarity of the difference between the analog input signal and the derived analog output signal. A digital signal is produced representative of the polarity of the difference signal. The system includes at least two switching networks, having high energy outputs, and which are responsive to the digital signal to reduce the levels of the difference signal in a frequency band of interest at the source of the digital signals. A low-pass filter is included between the high energy outputs and the means to produce the digital signal to attenuate high frequency noise. The phase lag created by a low-pass passive filter at the output of the high energy outputs is, in one embodiment, reduced by a high-pass filter to maintain stability.

  • Patent number: 5505744
Abstract: A system for casting straps and terminals on lugs of storage batteries includes a loading station including means for receiving at least one non-metallic battery case having a plurality of plates and separators partially inserted in the case with lugs extending out of the case. Clamping structure holds the battery case in position and includes metallic structure for overlying edges of the case to insulate the edges of the battery case from heat. Means rotates the receiving means to position the lugs in a downward substantially vertical direction. Included is a casting mold for receiving molten lead. Transportation means moves the receiving means over the casting molds and lower the lugs into the casting mold. Following the setting of the lead, the receiving means is transported to an un-loading station where the battery case is removed from the receiving means. The casting mold includes a vent for letting air from the mold as molten lead is added to the mold.

  • Patent number: 5363925
Abstract: A mobile drilling machine adapted to be mounted on an all-terrain vehicle of the type principally utilized for recreational purposes. Secured to a reinforced rear luggage rack of the vehicle is an equipment supporting plate carrying a drill beam mounted thereto by way of a support bearing. The drill beam is rotatable from a horizontal traveling position to vertical drilling position. The drill beam has, at its lower end, a base plate which is attached to a hydraulic cylinder. At a drill site, the hydraulic cylinder is actuated to lower the base plate to the ground surface. Continued movement of the cylinder lifts the rear end of the vehicle which places a portion of the weight of the vehicle on the drill beam to maintain the position of the drill beam.

  • Patent number: 5352986
Abstract: A power controller includes a closed-loop system having a summer to sum an input signal with a derived output signal to produce a difference signal. A comparator compares the difference signal with a reference signal to produce a digital signal representative of the polarity difference between the difference signal and the reference signal. Two switching networks respond to the digital signal to produce high energy outputs representative of the digital signal which are used to reduce the level of the difference signal in a frequency band of interest at the comparator. A low pass filter between the high energy outputs and the comparator attenuates high-frequency noise. A low-pass filter of at least the third order, connected in the closed loop, enhances the signal-to-noise ratio. In a specific application the power controller is a power amplifier and the input signal is in the audio frequency range.

  • Patent number: 4380271
Abstract: An auger system is described having an upstanding axial stem with a pilot bit attached to the bottom of the stem. A downwardly spiraling flight structure affixed to the axial stem has a leading edge terminating in the vicinity of the pilot bit. Enhanced cutting operations are provided by way of a cutting tooth holder structure removably secured to the leading edge of the flight structure and extending from a position adjacent the stem above the pilot bit to a position proximate to the perimeter of the flight structure. The holder structure is provided with a plurality of spaced apart pockets for receiving shank portions of cutting teeth. Stresses applied to the cutting teeth during operations are distributed through the holder structure back to the flight structure by way of reinforcing webs which extend from a position proximate to each of the cutting tooth receiving pockets to a position for contact with the leading edge of the flight structure.

  • Patent number: RE29466
Abstract: The specification discloses a technique for assaying for delayed fission neutrons from uranium to obtain a quantitative measure of uranium ore grade. In one embodiment, a pulsed neutron source of 14-Mev neutrons and a neutron detector are located in a borehole at the level of a formation of interest. The source is operated cyclically to irradiate the formations with bursts of fast neutrons, and the resulting neutrons from the formations are detected. Measurements are made of those neutrons detected between neutron bursts and indicative of delayed neutrons emitted as a result of neutron fission of uranium. Measurements also are obtained in a nonore-bearing formation to record the count of delayed neutrons emitted from oxygen when irradiated. These measurements are compared with those obtained in the ore-bearing formations of interest to correct for the effect of the oxygen background.

  • Patent number: RE30347
Abstract: Seismic signals from detectors forming split spreads are utilized to correct for weathering, elevation, and the like signals from detectors forming an expanded spread. The signals of the seismic section delineated by the expanded spread have applied thereto time changes under the control of a hyperbolic generator. There are generated as a result of the sweeping across the section and lengthwise thereof of the seismic signals the generation of functions utilized to provide normal moveout corrections of greater precision or accuracy than heretofore. With the normal moveout corrections of greater accuracy applied to the signals of the seismic section, additional corrections are made for dip and thereafter for delineation of the velocity characteristics of the earth along the stratigraphic column. There is included provision not only for identification of primary reflections and multiples but also for the elimination of multiples from the signals of the seismic section.
