Abstract: A novel process is provided for the preparation of carbofuran and certain intermediate products. 1,2-Cyclohexanedione is alkylated with a beta-methallyl compound and the resulting product subjected to a Claisen rearrangement/aromatization to provide the carbofuran phenol. Reaction of the phenol with methyl isocyanate converts the phenol to the desired carbofuran.
Abstract: Novel bicyclooxyphenyl ureas, such as 1-(bicyclooxyphenyl)-benzoyl ureas, are provided which exhibit pesticidal activity. The compositions are conveniently prepared by reacting an isocyanate with either an amide or a bicyclooxyaniline.
Abstract: A process for the production of 2,5-dichloro-3-nitrobenzoic acid which comprises reacting 2,5-dichloro-3-nitro-p-xylene in a saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid solvent with oxygen at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of a catalyst system which comprises a transition metal oxidation catalyst and a bromine promoter.
Abstract: Novel derivatives of bicyclic 2-iminothiazolidine oximes and methods of preparing same. This invention is also directed to an insecticidal composition comprising an acceptable carrier and an insecticidally effective amount of a compound of this invention, as well as to a method of controlling insects which comprises subjecting the insects to an insecticidally effective amount of a compound of this invention.

Abstract: An improved process for preparing 1-organothioaldoxime compounds by reacting an aldoxime or .alpha.-hydroxyiminoketone with an alkaline hypohalite in an acidic medium and reacting the resulting 1-haloaldoxime with the alkali metal salt of a mercaptan, said acidic medium comprising an acid added in an amount of from about 0.5 to about 4.0 equivalents for each mole of alkaline hypohalite used.

Abstract: Symmetrical N-substituted bis-carbamoyloximino disulfide compounds exhibit outstanding nematocidal, miticidal and insecticidal activity, coupled with substantially reduced mammalian toxicity and phytotoxicity as compared to known pesticidal compounds having a comparable spectrum of activity against insect, arachnid and nematode pests.
