  • Patent number: 6804404
Abstract: A shape information coder divides the pixels in the shape information into subsets representing different subsamplings of the shape information. Each pixel in each subset is coded with reference to a context which may be derived from reference pixels in more than one of the subsets. The context preferably includes reference pixels located on all sides of the pixel being coded, which leads to efficient coding. The shape information coder may have two or more cascaded stages, each operating as above, with one subset of pixels passed from each stage to be coded in the next stage. The resulting coded shape information is useful in, for example, wavelet coding of pictures.

  • Patent number: 6792536
Abstract: A smart card system and methods for proving dates of digital data files includes a trusted time source, a first subsystem for saving the file at a moment in time, a second subsystem for retrieving from the trusted time source a date and a time corresponding to the moment in time, a third subsystem for appending the date and the time retrieved from the trusted time source to the saved file, a fourth subsystem for signing the saved file with the date and the time retrieved from the trusted time source appended thereto, a fifth subsystem for hashing the signed file to produce a digest, a sixth subsystem for signing the digest with a key to produce a certificate, a seventh subsystem for appending the certificate to the saved file, and an eighth subsystem for saving the file with the certificate appended thereto. All of the subsystems are preferably sealed together within a smart card.

  • Patent number: 6746239
Abstract: A substrate feed chamber that is equipped in a substrate processing apparatus is provided. The substrate feed chamber has a storage tray capable of storing simultaneously three or more substrate holding trays that hold substrates in a vertical or substantially vertical condition and a horizontal movement mechanism that moves horizontally the storage tray with respect to the substrate feed position in order to effect feeding-in or feeding-out movement of the substrate holding tray between any of the chambers of a group consisting of processing chambers and load lock chambers and, in addition, if required, has a rotary movement device that rotates the storage tray. Improvement in throughput in a substrate processing apparatus can thereby be achieved and increase in the ground-contacting area of the device as a whole can be prevented.
