Abstract: Novel analogs of phencyclidine (PCP) are disclosed. The analogs are capable of reacting with anti-PCT antibodies and are useful in immunoassays. The following analogs are described: ##STR1## wherein wherein X is --OH or a reporter molecule selected from the group consisting of aminofluorescein and aminomethylfluorescein and n is an integer between 1 and 10, inclusive.

Abstract: An improved method for depositing metal particles on a marker which catalyzes the reduction of metal ions from a physical developer comprising a solution of metal ions, a molar excess of complexant in respect to the metal ions and a reducing agent. Said method being preferably employed for the detection of one or more components of an aggregate formed between a least one specific binding agent and its corresponding bindable substance by labelling at least one component of said aggregate with a marker and contacting said aggregate with a physical developer, whereby under influence of the marker a metal particle is formed which can be detected. Further the invention also relates to solutions and test-kits adapted for carrying out the above mentioned method.
Abstract: A soft hydrogel contact lens, is disclosed. The lens is derived from a crosslinked polymer comprising the reaction product of a monomer mixture comprising:(A) a monounsaturated polyoxyethylene monomer;(B) a diunsaturated polyoxyethylene monomer of relatively high molecular weight;(C) a diunsaturated polyoxyethylene monomer of relatively low molecular weight; and(D) a hydrophilic monomer selected from the group consisting of hydroxyethyl methacrylate, methacrylic acid, N,N-dimethylacryiamide, N-vinyl pyrrolidone, glycerol monomethacrylate, itaconic acid, and mixtures thereof.

Abstract: Shaped hydrogel articles such as soft contact lenses are prepared by the steps of:(1) molding or casting a polymerization mixture comprising:(a) a monomer mixture comprising a major proportion of one or more hydrophilic monomers such as 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, and one or more cross-linking monomers; and(b) an inert, displaceable diluent selected from the group consisting of:(i) ethoxylated alkyl glucoside;(ii) ethoxylated bisphenol A;(iii) polyethylene glycol;(iv) mixture of propoxylated and ethoxylated alkyl glucoside;(v) single phase mixture of ethoxylated or propoxylated alkyl glucoside and C.sub.2-12 dihydric alcohol;(vi) adduct of .epsilon.-caprolactone and C.sub.2-6 alkanediols and triols;(vii) ethoxylated C.sub.3-6 alkanetriol; and(viii) mixtures of one or more of (i) through (vii),under conditions to polymerize said monomer mixture to produce a shaped gel of a copolymer of said monomers and said diluent; and(2) thereafter replacing said diluent with water.

Abstract: A cell fixative composition for fixing the internal components of a cell without disrupting the cell surface components is disclosed. The composition contains a compound for preserving intracellular morphology, a compound for fixing internal components of the cell, a compound which facilitates transportation of components across the cellular membrane, and a compound for increasing permeability of cell membranes. Methods for analyzing cells which have been fixed using the composition are also disclosed.
