Abstract: An open ended carton which includes a recessed moisture barrier closure provided by a membrane liner and an overlying cover. The membrane liner includes a perforated cut-out area which defines a pour spout. The cover which is affixed to the cut-out area by a heat seal pivots outwardly about a transverse score line to sever the perforations. Areas in the cover which surround the cut-out perforations in the membrane are releasably sealed to the membrane, such that outward pivoting of the cover severs the perforations and peels the seal open to provide a pour spout.
Abstract: A one piece blank which may be erected into a tamper evident sleeve for housing a container. The sleeve blank includes hingedly connected top, side, base and attachment panels. The tamper-proof feature of the invention is provided by a retention panel which is pivotally connected to the attachment panel and projects into the interior of the sleeve. The retention panel includes spaced leg projections which are dimensioned to conform and frictionally engage the container in locking orientation.
Abstract: Distilled tall oil fatty acids are improved by irradiation which isomerizes trans-dimethoxystilbene (trans-DMS) impurity to cis-dimethoxystilbene which is easily removed by fractional distillation. Thus, the trans-DMS is removed without loss of fatty acid components from the distilled tall oil fatty acid.
Abstract: Press dried paper sheets from certain ozonated high yield pulps are disclosed. Such sheets show substantially improved strength over comparable sheets prepared from non-ozonated pulps and over non-press dried sheets from ozonated pulps.
Abstract: Heat treatment of never-dried dissolving pulps prior to drying prevents or retards the hornification and consequent decrease in esterification reactivity which normally occurs on drying of untreated pulps.
