  • Patent number: 4397115
Abstract: An overhead door for use in selectively blocking large openings such as aircraft hangar doors, warehouse doors, etc. The door includes a primary or main door member pivotally mounted to the door opening and one or more secondary door members pivotally mounted within the main door member. A tracking mechanism causes the secondary door members to move to a substantially horizontal opened position when the main door member initially begins movement toward a substantially horizontal opened position and to maintain this horizontal position throughout the opening cycle of main door thus providing minimum wind resistance as the door is opened.

  • Patent number: 4389944
Abstract: A mechanism for use with a power-and-free type conveyor to allow a trolley system to be pushed across a transfer zone or the like. The trolley system is composed of at least a leading trolley and a trailing trolley, and perhaps an intermediate trolley. The leading trolley is pushed across the transfer zone by virtue of the mechanism of the trailing, or intermediate, trolley. The mechanism includes a dog member attached to the trailing (or intermediate) trolley, a first drive member for moving the dog member to a first position in which it will be engaged by a pusher member and pushed across a transfer zone, and a second drive member for moving the dog member to a second position out-of-engagement with the pusher member. The mechanism is constructed so that the dog member will stay in either of the first or second positions until it is positively moved to the other position by either the first or second drive member.

  • Patent number: 4386525
Abstract: An underground storage tank is filled with liquid (e.g., gasoline) until the level of the liquid in the tank rises into the fill-pipe leading from the surface of the ground to interior of the tank. The change in elevation of the liquid in the fill-pipe is monitored over a period of time. The temperature of the liquid within the tank is monitored over the same period of time. Evaporation from the surface of the liquid in the fill-pipe is monitored over the same period of time. A change in elevation of the liquid in the fill-pipe below the level caused by expansion or contraction due to temperature change, and by evaporation loss, indicates a leak in the tank.

  • Patent number: 4378070
Abstract: An article supporting rack particularly adapted for being attached to a door, e.g., the inner side of a closet door. The device includes a plurality of dowel rods which are supported at either end thereof by being received in selected ones of numerous holes provided in frame members which are attached to the door. The dowel rods may thusly be installed in various arrangements selectively compatible with various articles intended to be supported by the device in an optimum array for easy and ready access thereof. The dowel rods may be arranged to constrain tall or top-heavy articles as well as slender or bulky articles.

  • Patent number: 4374728
Abstract: Baffles are added to the blade members of the rotor of an apparatus for screening fibrous stock to cause the flow of stock within the screening zone along the length of the blades to angle away from the blades rather than parallel with the blades. Passageways are added to allow untreated stock to be added at points deep within the screening zone to maintain a proper water to fiber ratio throughout the screening zone.

  • Patent number: 4372081
Abstract: A window guard intended to safeguard a window of a dwelling and is constructed so that a portion thereof may be slidably moved away from its normal SAFEGUARD or UP position to provide an escape route for the inhabitants of the dwelling in the event of fire. The window guard is particularly characterized by structure responsive to the heat of a fire in automatically providing such escape route, even though all the while an intruder is denied the convenience of utilizing the window, to which the guard may be attached, for gaining unwarranted entrance into the dwelling.

  • Patent number: 4336135
Abstract: An apparatus for anaerobically treating waste to allow the waste to be safely disposed of and/or to reclaim useful gas therefrom. The apparatus includes a tank, a cylinder positioned within the tank to divide the tank into first and second areas, and media such as stones or the like positioned within the first and second areas of the tank for supporting anaerobic bacteria growth. Liquid waste is introduced into the first area of the tank over the media therein. As the waste flows through the media, the waste will be partially treated and methane gas or nitrogen gas will be formed or reclaimed therefrom. As more waste is introduced into the first area of the tank over the media therein, waste that has passed through the media in the first area will be forced upward through the media in the second area where it is further treated. Waste that has passed upwardly through the media in the second area of the tank is removed from the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4336086
Abstract: A method of lining an interior surface of a furnace with roll-type insulation by attaching a plurality of hooks onto the interior surface to be lined, folding back portions of the roll-type insulation on themselves to create folds in the roll-type insulation, and pressing the folds onto the hooks to thereby attach the roll-type insulation to the interior surface. Each of the plurality of hooks includes a hook member for passage through portions of the roll-type insulation. Each hook member is fixedly attached to the interior surface of the furnace either by being welded directly thereto when the interior surface of the furnace is metal or by being fixedly attached to a plate member which is in turn bolted, riveted, or otherwise fixedly attached to the interior surface of the furnace. The hook member includes a leg portion having a pointed first end for passage through the roll-type insulation and having a second end.
