  • Patent number: 6112631
Abstract: A towel dispensing mechanism includes a frame upon which a quantity of paper is stored on a supply reel. An extending portion of paper pulled through an exit slot of the housing rotates a paper feed roller rotatably supported within the frame, causing an attached arm member to engage a knife assembly, and causing a pivoting cutting blade to move into engagement with the paper web after the roller has rotated to a predetermined position. The knife assembly is biased to allow restoration to a precutting position when the arm member no longer engages the knife assembly. According to a preferable arrangement, a vertically disposed intermediately disposed engagement element supported to the frame interconnects the arm member with the knife assembly. Biasing of the arm member causes the feed roller to rotate additionally a predetermined amount after the paper has been cut, thereby metering a predetermined amount of paper from the supply reel through the exit slot.

  • Patent number: 6110577
Abstract: A high-pressure vessel is allowed to be in an initial state, and a first chamber is disposed downward. Copper or copper alloy is placed in the first chamber, and SiC is set in a second chamber. The high-pressure vessel is tightly sealed, and then the inside of the high-pressure vessel is subjected to vacuum suction through a suction pipe. An electric power is applied to a heater to heat and melt the copper or copper alloy in the first chamber. At a stage at which the molten copper in the first chamber arrives at a predetermined temperature, the high-pressure vessel is inverted by 180 degrees to give a state in which SiC is immersed in the molten copper. An impregnating gas is introduced into the high-pressure vessel through a gas inlet pipe to apply a pressure to the inside of the high-pressure vessel. Thus, SiC is impregnated with the molten copper.

  • Patent number: 6110026
Abstract: A carrier and polishing apparatus enabling high precision polishing of a workpiece and enabling prevention of leak contamination and damage to the workpiece. A carrier 1 is provided with a carrier body 2, a pressure chamber 3, and a fluid passage portion 4 and a plurality of valve portions 5 are specially provided in the pressure chamber 3. Due to this, when the inside of the pressure chamber 3 becomes a negative pressure state, the valve portions 5 open and the wafer W is picked up by suction, while when it becomes a positive pressure state, the valve portions 5 close and the air in the pressure chamber 3 uniformly presses against the wafer W. Further, since the valve portions 5 close in the positive pressure state, the air in the pressure chamber 3 will not flow to the outside.

  • Patent number: 6110615
Abstract: A fuel cell power plant includes an electrochemical autothermal reformer (EATR) which provides hydrogen to the fuel cell. The EATR includes an autothermal reformer region, an anode supply region, and a mixed ion conductor membrane or metal or metal alloy membrane layer separating the autothermal reforming region from the reformer anode supply region. An anode gas loop, located between an anode supply region of the EATR and an anode compartment or section of the fuel cell circulates a mixture of hydrogen and a carrier gas between the two regions. The carrier gas ensures proper control of partial pressures of hydrogen in the two regions. A difference in operating temperature between the EATR and the fuel cell is exploited by heat exchangers which efficiently enable certain heating and cooling functions within the power plant.

  • Patent number: 6105383
Abstract: An evaporator unit for use in the passenger compartment of a small bus that includes a low profile cabinet mounted in the ceiling of the passenger compartment against the back wall of the compartment. The cabinet contains a housing having a floor that slants downwardly from front to back and an evaporator coil is mounted in the front of the housing that is tilted rearwardly to reduce the height of the cabinet. A tangential blower wheel is mounted behind the coil and arranged to pass air from an inlet in the floor of the housing through the coil and out of the cabinet outlet. A shroud surrounds the blower wheel that cooperates with a baffle plate to efficiently conduct air through the unit. The top edge of the baffle forms the lower lip of the shroud exit region and the plate extends downward so that its lower edge is adjacent to the bottom of the coil to establish a converging air passage with the rear face of the coil to evenly distributes the air flow passing through the coil.

  • Patent number: 6108479
Abstract: An optical waveguide plate comprises joining layers (adhesive layers) formed on both surfaces of a main optical waveguide plate body, and rigid transparent plates thinner than the main optical waveguide plate body joined (glued) onto the joining layers. The main optical waveguide plate body is composed of, for example, a transparent material such as an acrylic resin. For example, a white glass plate or an inexpensive colored glass plate may be used for the rigid transparent plate. The optical refractive index m of the joining layer is approximately the same as the optical refractive index n.sub.1 of the main optical waveguide plate body, which is in a range of 0.8n.sub.1 .ltoreq.m.ltoreq.1.2n.sub.1. Accordingly, it is possible to increase the rigidity of the optical waveguide plate, reduce the warpage or the like, and easily and inexpensively respond to a large-sized display screen of the display.
