  • Patent number: 7005027
Abstract: A method of manufacturing reinforced tags using a press is disclosed which includes providing a continuously moving web of tag material. A web of reinforcing material is also provided and die cut into reinforcing patches. The reinforcing material has a pressure sensitive adhesive thereon. A first portion of the patches is adhered to a first major surface of the continuously moving web of tag material so it extends beyond said first major surface. A second portion of the patches is contacted with a stationary curved surface which folds the patches as they move along the folder so that the second portion is folded around an edge of the tag material and adheres to a second major surface of the web of tag material. A hole is then cut in each tag unit at a location such that it extends through the patch at a point where it is adhered to two major surfaces of each tag unit. The web of tag material is then cut into the individual tag units.

  • Patent number: 7004345
Abstract: A can end member has a central panel, a circumferential chuckwall, and a transition wall. The central panel is centered about a longitudinal axis and has a peripheral edge. The curl defines an outer perimeter of the end member. The circumferential chuckwall extends downwardly from the curl to the transition wall. The transition wall connects the chuckwall with the peripheral edge of the central panel. The transition wall has a folded portion extending outwardly relative to the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 7000797
Abstract: An end member for a container having a circumferential sidewall, the end member having a peripheral seaming edge adapted to be integrally connected to the sidewall, and having a central panel wall with a means for opening a frangible panel segment of the panel wall is claimed. The end member comprises a deboss panel recessed in the central panel. The deboss panel has first and second spaced apart end portions joined by first and second sidewalls. The first spaced apart end portion has an apex and first and second arcuate portions. A distance between the first and second arcuate portions is defined by a plurality of progressively increasing secant lengths located in spaced relation from the apex. A score groove is located within the deboss panel defining an outer perimeter of the frangible panel segment. The score groove has a first end and a second end joined to the first end by a curvilinear segment. The first end and the second end are separated by a generally linear hinge segment of the central panel wall.

  • Patent number: 7000951
Abstract: A printable form is disclosed having a detachable wristband and removable labels. The form includes a first layer having a separable area in the form of a wristband which allows the wristband to be separated from the form. A second layer is bonded to the first layer by an adhesive and has labels which are die cut out of the material of the second layer. The bond between the first layer and the die cut labels is a releaseable bond, allowing the labels and the adhesive contained thereon to be removed from the first layer.

  • Patent number: 6999182
Abstract: A system for characterizing an aspheric surface with respect to an expected shape thereof, comprising a light source to emit light of desirable properties. A ferrofluid deformable mirror apparatus has a reflective surface being controllably deformable. The reflective surface is shaped as a function of the expected shape so as to reflect light in a known path toward a detector. Optical elements project light from the light source onto the aspheric surface such that light is reflected along an expected path if the aspheric surface has the expected shape. Light is reflected from the aspheric surface along an actual path. The optical elements project light on the reflective surface of the ferrofluid deformable apparatus such that light is reflected along the known path. A detector receives light reflected along at least one of the actual path and the known path to obtain an interference pattern as a function of the expected path.

  • Patent number: 6995527
Abstract: The present system is a system for controlling a trolling motor in a fishing boat. The system comprises a transmitting unit and a receiving unit. The transmitting unit includes a direction sensor, a selection switch, and a transmitter. The direction sensor automatically senses the direction to which the user desires to steer the fishing boat when the user points the direction sensor in that direction. The user then uses the selection switch, and by “clicking” the switch once the transmitter sends a signal with the direction information to the receiving unit. The receiving unit then receives the signal containing the direction information, and affects the trolling motor in such a way that it steers the fishing boat in the desired direction.

  • Patent number: 6994776
Abstract: A method for filling recessed microstructures at a surface of a microelectronic workpiece, such as a semiconductor wafer, with metallization is set forth. In accordance with the method, a metal layer is deposited into the microstructures with a process, such as an electroplating process, that generates metal grains that are sufficiently small so as to substantially fill the recessed microstructures. The deposited metal is subsequently subjected to an annealing process at a temperature below about 100 degrees Celsius, and may even take place at ambient room temperature to allow grain growth which provides optimal electrical properties. Various novel apparatus for executing unique annealing processes are also set forth.
