  • Patent number: 4775484
Abstract: A continuous and valveless sorber device is described which utilizes a novel rotating sorption bed which operates through at least three zones (sorption, desorption and cooling). The rotating sorption bed is contained within a plurality of manifolds and the sorption bed and the manifolds are sealed to one another via sealing means. Contaminated fluid is directed through the sorption zone of the rotating sorption bed where the contaminants are removed by sorbents. The bulk of the fluid which is then cleaned is available for use. A portion of the clean fluid (regeneration fluid) is used to cool the sorbent in the cooling zone of the rotating sorption bed. The warmed regeneration fluid is then heated by a regeneration heater and is subsequently directed into the desorption zone of the rotating sorption bed where the hot clean regeneration fluid is used to desorb and carry away the contaminants from the sorbent.

  • Patent number: 4763918
Abstract: The invention relates to a ski brake that is integrated into the housing of a safety ski binding. The ski brake has a pair of bushings aligned along a horizontal axis through the housing of the ski binding. The bushings rotate in the housing of the binding and have non-circular axially aligned openings that move the arms of the ski brake outwardly, around the ski, as the arms are deployed. The short lever arm sections of the L-shaped ski brake arms are spring biased into contact with the bushing surfaces and are moved according to the non-circular surfaces in the bushing.

  • Patent number: 4761005
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for generating an analog output signal indicative of an impact to a transducer. The transducer may be mounted on protective equipment utilized in various martial arts fields, such as protective vests and the like or can be mounted on training equipment, such as a heavy bag, striking pad, etc. In a preferred embodiment the transducer is a piezoelectrical signal which is indicative of the amount of deformation. By placing the piezoelectric film on top of a deformable material, in a preferred embodiment sandwiching it in the deformable material, impacts to the deformable material will strain the piezoelectric film generating the signal output. In a further embodiment of the present invention, the piezoelectric transducer is mounted on a target pad and provides an analog output indicative of the characteristics of an object impacting the target pad.

  • Patent number: 4752517
Abstract: A method of interconnecting a panel edge to a structural member with an adhesive which will only bond to the panel material comprises positioning the panel edge in a groove of the structural member which is filled with the adhesive. The groove has converging opposing surfaces towards the groove entrance which defines an enlarged cavity beneath the groove entrance. The adhesive, when it hardens, is securely bonded to the panel and forms an interlock between the panel and the converging surfaces of the groove to interconnected securely the panel to the structural member.

  • Patent number: 4747768
Abstract: In order to manufacture shaped tubular articles of plastics material, a semi-finished tube of softened plastics which is substantially straight and has a diameter about equal to the diameter of the article to be formed is introduced into a mould defining a cavity which is substantially straight. Subsequently, the mould is operated so as to deform the cavity and give it a shape corresponding to the shape of the article to be formed.

  • Patent number: 4739639
Abstract: An auto-directing lever lock includes a case housing a cylinder (4) with a plug (3) mounted for movement therein. The plug includes a keyway (14) for accepting a key bit (7). A keyway opening (15) on the surface of the plug provides access for lever tumblers (6) to engage lever steps on the key bit. The key bit is detachable from a bow and shank section (8), and inserted in to the keyway through a key hole (39) in the case. The tumblers ride on a surface of the plug and are held away from the lever steps of the key bit during rotation of the plug, until the tumblers disengage the plug surface due to the keyway opening therein. The tumblers, when disengaged from the plug surface, fall onto the lever steps of the key bit to align gatings (32) of the tumblers so a bolt stump (28) may pass therethrough to retract a bolt (5) of the lock.

  • Patent number: 4738169
Abstract: A wrench construction wherein the wrench can be formed from an injection molded plastic material, and includes a handle and respective first and second head members extending from the ends of the handle. One of the head members is larger than the other, and each head member defines at least a part of a regular polygon adapted to be drivingly engageable and disengageable with a fastener element, such as a nut or bolt. Each of the head members and the handle is of generally U-shaped cross-section and includes a plurality of transverse stiffner members that extend from the base of the U and across the legs thereof to provide desired strength and rigidity of the structure at light weight.

  • Patent number: 4735434
Abstract: A toe piece for safety ski-bindings, which toe piece can pivot outwardly in a sideways direction against a biasing force if excessive lateral forces occur. A supporting member (8) is connected to two side holding members (9,10) adapted to support the sole of the boot in lateral and frontal directions. The support member (8) forms the coupling means of a linkage quadrangle which can pivot laterally. The side holding members (9,10) extend beyond the point where they are mounted to the support member. Each side holding member is releasably locked by means of a lever (27,28) mounted on the extensions thereof. A locking member (14) cooperative with the levers is adapted to release the appropriate side holding member when the linkage moves beyond a predetermined distance from center.
