Abstract: Road marker in a road bed having at the road level a resilient diaphragm carrying a light-reflective lens yieldingly projecting above the road level and operationally depressible below the road level by an automotive wheel passing over the lens, with the diaphragm providing opposite wiper blades extending at the road level into contact with opposite faces of the lens and cleaning these faces on operational depression of the lens below, and its recovery into projection above, the road level.

Abstract: A flat transparent slip is formed with an integral handle part, including a prong that rises from the slip and has with the latter outside the confines of a growth area thereon a joint with a constriction for ready snap-off of the handle part from the slip. In another form, a number of slips are arranged in a cluster with an integral handle and so that any slip may be snapped off the handle.

Abstract: A cage with opposite endwalls and opposite tracks on the latter for circuit panels, of which each track is formed of a pair of resilient leaves arranged side-by-side and bowed toward each other to leave them with adjacent apices intermediate their lengths, with the leaves of the opposite tracks being symmetrical about a median plane, and the leaves of each pair being spaced closest at their apices so that a panel introduced into a pair of tracks has freedom of tilting motion about the apices as a fulcrum for stress-free register of the panel with a groove in a connector block which is more or less in alignment with the tracks.

Abstract: To straighten firearm barrels with bores running out to muzzle ends, a barrel is bent at a transverse barrel plane at a distance of less than half the barrel length from the muzzle end to an extent and in a direction to bring the bore center axis at this barrel plane into line with a straight reference axis passing through the centers of the opposite bore ends.

Abstract: Compost toilet having in the waste receptacle thereof a gate in the form of two hinged companion wings swingable into closed and open positions in and out of the path, respectively, of urine passed into the receptacle by a user of the toilet in standing position, with the wings having scattered leakage paths through which urine passed into the receptacle in closed gate position will trickle into the waste matter below.

Abstract: A laboratory tray with cup formations is on opposite sides of its upright circumferential wall provided with outwardly projecting pad formations with outer faces, with these pad formations registering with notches in a depending circumferential skirt on a cover in its closed position on the tray to clear the cover skirt and expose the outer pad faces in their entirety to an attendant's finger grasp for safe handling of the covered tray.

Abstract: A safety marker is attachable to a trigger guard on a firearm in apparent interference with accustomed manipulation of the trigger, with the marker resembling a shield which presents an abnormal and startling sight on the firearm, and by its apparent interference with trigger manipulation has the effect of discouraging unauthorized handling of the firearm.

Abstract: A chuck having radially movable jaws and axially extending jaw-operating levers pivotally mounted intermediate their ends to form shorter and longer arms, of which the shorter arms are operatively connected with the jaws, and the longer arms provide counterbalances for the jaws and are in follower engagement with wedge surfaces on an inward flange formation on a sleeve piston in an outer ring-shaped power cylinder which lengthwise is more or less coextensive with the jaw-operating levers.

Abstract: In record producing apparatus a biscuit mold is formed in upper and lower complemental cup parts with fragmental rims which, on lowering the upper cup part onto the lower cup part for closing the mold cavity to form a biscuit therein, complement each other peripherally to form an uninterrupted annular rim, so that on raising the upper cup part from the lower cup part in opening the mold, the mold cavity is opened not only at the bottom but also at the top for direct exposure of a good part of a formed biscuit to the cooling effect of external air.

Abstract: In a conduit connector, the tubular body has on one end spaced sections of an outer flange, and the applied cap has a peripheral wall over the one body end and an inner endshoulder opposite the flange sections on the body, while the locking gland is with its flat ring base interposed between the flange sections and the endshoulder on the body and cap, respectively, and is clamped thereto on twisting the cap into a tightened condition on the connector, with the cap being also provided on its peripheral wall with a few spaced and preferably impressed round beads which in a loose condition of the cap align with the spaces between the flange sections on the body, but on a twist of the cap into its tightened condition are moved beneath the flange sections to thereby clamp the same and the ring base of the gland thereon to the endshoulder of the cap with a crushing vice-like grip.

Abstract: Method of drying on a web face an applied coating containing volatile products, involving feeding the web at a rate of at least 50 feet per minute past a station at which a flame sheet from a high-capacity burner is with its tip in contact with the coated face of the fed web transversely thereof for evaporating and igniting the volatile products in the passing coating, and featuring directing into contact with the coated face of the fed web on opposite sides of and adjacent to the contacting flame sheet stable air sheets of a velocity of at least 400 feet per minute.
