  • Patent number: 4791898
Abstract: A V-engine is provided with a scotch yoke and connecting rods attaching plural pistons to the yoke such that the power stroke of both pistons is substantially simultaneous and the return strokes are substantially silmultaneous. Piston dwell is introduced by virtue of the lateral and angular displacement of the pistons in their respective angularly disposed cylinders and, in addition, dwell is introduced by virtue of the scotch yoke configuration wherein the slot retaining a sliding block connecting the yoke to the throw of a crankshaft may be of various configurations, rectilinear, curvilinear and offset arcuate in configuration.

  • Patent number: 4531441
Abstract: A combination table and miter saw is provided which has a slotted strip attached directly to a rotatable work supporting base plate. The slotted strip is part circular and forms a bearing connection for a saw assembly which accommodates pivoting of the saw assembly about an axis through a working surface of the bottom of the base plate. A threaded adjusting spindle for locking the saw in position during table sawing is connected to a bearing block which also is attached to the slotted strip.

  • Patent number: 4519537
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the hydrogen-impermeable brazing of austenitic structural steel parts. These are initially loosely joined at soldering points with the addition of definite amounts of solder and soldering agent and subsequently brought to soldering temperature in a furnace under a high vacuum. In order to obtain a satisfactory wetting characteristic, on the one hand, and a good hydrogen resistance, on the other hand, a bicomponent soldering process is provided, with about 1 part by weight of nickel-base solder and about 3 parts by weight of bronze-base solder. The nickel-base solder contains about 1-3% by weight of boron and 2-5% by weight of silicon. The nickel-base solder may amount to at most about 30% by weight of solder. Such soldered joints are used for storage pipes at metal hydride reservoirs.

  • Patent number: 4513701
Abstract: A valve of an internal combustion engine in which for purposes of increasing the strength within the area of the annular groove for the conical pieces retaining the spring plate for the valve springs, the corners of the annular groove are rounded-off with a relatively small radius which passes over into the cylindrical part of the annular groove by way of a larger radius; the upper portion of the valve stem is provided with an outer layer which is induction-hardened and which extends up to within the clamping area of the conical pieces.

  • Patent number: 4509673
Abstract: A process for creating a support means for a component part of a usually complicated configuration that is to be reworked and/or repaired, by surrounding the surfaces of the component part that are to be supported by a meltable alloy which, in the cooled state, supports said component, and by removal of the meltable alloy after the treatment of the component part by heating is characterized in that, before the pouring, cooling pipes are placed in the support area to be cooled during the treatment of the component part, with said cooling pipes, during the pouring process, being embedded by said meltable alloy. Thus, a support means is created that can be produced in a simple and rapid manner, for a component part having a complicated support surface, which can also be well cooled. A support means of this type is especially suitable as a welding device for a component part to be repaired which is to be repaired, for example, by micro-plasma build-up welding.

  • Patent number: 4509802
Abstract: In a vehicle equipped with a propulsion control system combined with an anti-blocking system, a pressure reservoir provided as a brake pressure supply-source which can be charged by means of the return pump of the anti-blocking system, whereby the charging operation is valve-controlled so that the feed from the return pump is directed into the pressure reservoir during pressure-reduction phases of the propulsion control system, the pressure reservoir can also be charged, outside the control phases of the propulsion control system, either by operating the driver's brake pedal or by automatic activation of a charging circuit accompanied by the operation of the return pump.

  • Patent number: 4508069
Abstract: A bearing arrangement for the balance shafts for balancing second order inertia forces on an internal combustion engine, in which the balance shafts run parallel to the crankshaft on both longitudinal walls of the crankcase, and have the ends carrying the balance weights supported by means of journal bearings within the crankcase and having driven ends supported by means of roller bearings outside the crankcase in the region of a crankcase end wall.

  • Patent number: 4508159
Abstract: A mold which can be used for low-pressure casting, in particular, and has at least two mold parts, comprises a feeder channel which is clamped between the two mold parts at an attachment flange thereof, which is parallel to the parting plane of the mold parts. On a side of the feeder channel provided with inlet channels, which lead from the feeder channel to the mold cavity, the attachment flange of the feeder channel is connected to one of the two mold parts in such a way that it seals against the mold, while having an edge area of the flange which is unconnected and can, therefore, expand under the action of heat.

  • Patent number: 4508393
Abstract: A system employing at least one axle of a vehicle equipped with an anti-locking system for achieving a control behavior operating according to modified individual control (MIC) to prevent yawing moments on the vehicle during controlled braking on roads with very different road-holding values between the left and right side of the vehicle wherein a sensor assigned to each wheel is provided with two separate brake circuits separately controllable by brake cylinders serve, the first brake circuit of each wheel being controlled respectively by a control channel as a function of the movement behavior of the actual wheel to be controlled and a second brake circuit of each wheel is controlled by a common control channel assigned exclusively as a function of the movement behavior of the wheels and a further driving parameter of the vehicle.
