Patent number: 6667669Abstract: A differential PIN diode attenuator (450) that selectively attenuates a differential analog input signal. The two parts of the differential signal are applied to separate input lines (452, 454) and are 180° out of phase with each other. One input line (452) is coupled to a first attenuation path (456) including a resistor and a first non-attenuation path (458) including a PIN diode (462). The other input line (454) is coupled to a second attenuation path (466) including a resistor and a second non-attenuation path (468) including a PIN diode (472). The diodes (462, 472) are biased by a DC bias signal so that the differential analog signal can bypass the attenuation paths (456, 466). The DC bias signal is applied halfway between the input lines (452, 454) where the two parts of the differential signal cancel. A shunt diode (490, 492,) and parallel shunt resistors are provided in combination with the attenuation resistor to allow it to have a relatively small value.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2002Date of Patent: December 23, 2003Assignee: Northrop Grumman CorporationInventors: William R. Patent number: 6664932Abstract: A multifunction printed antenna for wireless and telematic applications. In one embodiment, GPS and satellite radio patch antenna elements are printed on one side of a printed circuit board and AMPS, PCS, GSM and terrestrial radio slot antenna elements are etched in a ground plane on an opposite side of the same printed circuit board. In an alternate embodiment, the GPS and satellite radio patch antenna elements are elements mounted on one printed circuit board and the AMPS, GSM, PCS and terrestrial radio slot antenna elements are etched in a ground plane on another printed circuit board rigidly secured orthogonal to the GPS and satellite printed circuit board. The AMPS, GSM and PCS circuit board can be curved to reduce the nulls at the edges of the circuit board. Further, the edge of the AMPS, GSM and PCS circuit board that contacts the GPS and satellite radio circuit board can have a saw-tooth pattern so that edge currents are reduced.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2002Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Assignee: EMAG Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Kazem F. Patent number: 6657213Abstract: A nozzle (46) for a laser-plasma EUV radiation source that provides thermal isolation between the nozzle body (48) and the target material flowing therethrough. A target delivery tube (72) is provided that extends through the nozzle body (48). The delivery tube (72) has an expansion aperture (80) positioned behind an exit collimator (50) of the nozzle body (48). The delivery tube (72) is made of a low thermal conductivity material, such as stainless steel, and is in limited contact with the nozzle body (48) so that heating of the nozzle body (48) from the plasma does not heat the liquid target material being delivered through the delivery tube (72). The expansion aperture (80) has a smaller diameter than the exit collimator (50).Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2001Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Northrop Grumman CorporationInventors: Rocco A. Patent number: 6640510Abstract: A method of constructing stained glass window systems is described. The stained glass window system includes a stained glass panel that includes a stained glass member joined to a seam member of a frame member with a joining material. A metal decorative silhouette is placed on one of the major surfaces of the stained glass panel and is joined thereto by applying a joining material to an aperture formed in the silhouette. In this manner, the silhouette obscures the seam member of the frame member. Patent number: 6609800Abstract: A vehicle door mirror having a housing. The housing connects to a vehicle door via a stem. An intermediate member is inserted between the housing and the vehicle door to effect relatively smooth abutment between the intermediate member and each of the housing and the vehicle door. The cylindrical stem extends from the housing through the intermediate member and through the vehicle door. The stem includes primary engagement members to engage with complementary engagement members formed in a mounting hole of the door. The engagement members prevent removal from the mounting hole when the stem is in a predetermined orientation. A spring is compressed between the housing and the stem to cause retraction of the stem inward of the housing. Such inward movement urges the primary engagement members into engagement with the complementary engagement members.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2002Date of Patent: August 26, 2003Assignee: Schefenacker Vision Systems UK LimitedInventors: Andrew J. Patent number: 6599350Abstract: A filtration device for use in filtering air used to purge a vapor storage canister used in connection with a fuel vapor recovery system of an automobile. The device includes a housing. In some instances, the housing may be integral to another component. The housing has a chamber having an arcuate inner surface. Air flowing into the chamber through an inlet port strikes the arcuate interior surface and is redirected such that the air rotates in said chamber. The centrifugal force of the rotating air filters out any contaminants of sufficient mass contained therein. The filtered air is removed via an outlet port positioned near the longitudinal-axis of the chamber. Contaminants removed from the air fall due to gravity or a secondary air flow pattern into a collection portion of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1999Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Assignee: Hi-Stat Manufacturing Company, Inc.Inventors: James Rockwell, Mason B.
