  • Patent number: 4295765
Abstract: A structure serving for use in the tie-down of cargo on the bed of a truck characterized by a body member, partly threaded both externally and internally, which has been inserted into a hole drilled through the truck bed, and a further assembly including both a positioning or plug member and a nut disposed beneath the truck bed and threadedly secured to external threads on the stem of the body member. The head of the body member and the positioning member each have complementary outwardly flaring surfaces, so that, when drawn together by wrench means, the top surface of the body member is in a generally flush relationship with the surface of the truck bed adjacent the hole. The internal threads of the body member typically receive an eyehook, which, in turn, receives a rope or the like for positioning the cargo on the bed of the truck.

  • Patent number: 4290383
Abstract: A spraying arrangement having particular adaptability for use in combination with a conveyor installation characterized by conventional sprayer equipment for painting or coating production parts, where excess paint or coating material is deposited on a back up shield, the latter serving to overcome, or at least minimize, overspray.Particular importance of the arrangement lies in the fact that the load capabilities of the conveyor can be more fully utilized, i.e. the parts under process can be sprayed from opposite sides of the aforesaid shield, being mounted on the same conveyor hanger. The shield may be in the form of selectively movable porous material and, in the instance of electrostatic paint spraying, a grid, charged with the same electrical potential as the part, is disposed within passes of the shield for even more effective excess material collecting purposes.

  • Patent number: 4280444
Abstract: A shield having particular adaptability in protecting a baseboard or like member when painting or otherwise treating a surface thereabove characterized by a plate assembly mounted on vertically adjustable legs. A top plate of the assembly is removedly secured to a base plate received on the aforesaid legs, where the leading edge of the top plate is straight and undercut at an inclined angle in a cooperating relationship with the top of the baseboard to prevent an unwanted flow of paint or like material onto the baseboard during painting and/or other treating procedures.

  • Patent number: 4261162
Abstract: A cutting blade for agricultural equipment defined by a truncated diamond configuration in plan view, where the cutting blade is made from a high strength plastic material, and where the leading or cutting edges thereof are beveled in a downward and outward direction. In an alternative embodiment, the cutting blade is in a "double diamond" shape, i.e. similar to two truncated diamond shapes at a right angle to each other. In any event, with either invention form, the cutting blade is reversible for extended use.The invention affords particular adaptability to what is presently and commercially known as home trimming and/or edging equipment; however, more far-reaching end purposes are achieved as, for example, the effective cutting of heavy grass, brush and scrub trees because of the unique shape and the material of each cutting blade per se.

  • Patent number: 4234203
Abstract: A wagon having particular adaptability for use in the picking of fruits of cultivated berry plants, such as strawberries, or other short growing crops, which, when positioned, overlies a preselected row of plants and which is propelled by the feet of the seated picker in a direction opposite to that which the picker is facing. Provision is made for directing the wagon in a proper direction along the aforesaid plant row, and storage areas on the wagon afford ready placement of the picked fruit. The wagon may be equally pushed for use, as stated, and/or pulled to a desired location.

  • Patent number: 4232675
Abstract: A male contraceptive arrangement defined, basically, by a modified condom, i.e. one having a shorter length than now commercially available and a configuration particularly adapted to contain semen; a spermicidal ring received within the condom; and, an elasticized retaining cover adapted to position the condom on the male organ. In one invention form, a harness, disposed on the glans penis, extends to the spermicidal ring, where, in another invention form, the harness includes sensitivity segments which are located rearwardly of the glans penis. In a further invention form, additional positive positioning of the condom is afforded through an elasticized retaining device arranged over the condom at a position in front of the spermicidal ring and to the rear of the elasticized retaining cover.
