  • Patent number: 4039416
Abstract: A gasless ion plating process wherein plating material is melted, vaporized, and then subjected to an ionization environment in a low pressure chamber with a "virtual cathode" consisting of a plasma of ionized atoms of evaporant material created by evaporating in an RF field. It is a gasless ion plating process wherein the system ambient pressure prior to plating material evaporation may be much lower than that required to sustain a glow discharge, however, with vapor pressure of evaporant material added to the environment base pressure being such as to result in a plasma of ionized atoms of the plating material developing as the vaporized material approaches the RF cathode. This invention relates in general to high particulate energy level ion plating deposition of plating material, and in particular, to gasless ion plating.

  • Patent number: 4027740
Abstract: A multi-chamber muffler having an input exhaust gas cyclone chamber receiving exhaust gas input from an exhaust pipe at an outlet location as related to a baffle wall, and in combination with the slant of the baffle wall generating cyclonic vortex turbulance flow of the exhaust gases delivered thereto. This cyclonic vortex action with enhanced conversion of CO to CO.sub.2 in the on-fire temperature exhaust gases is further enhanced by a hurdle-top pass opening to a following expansion chamber where even more combination of CO to the CO.sub.2 occurs. Turbulance mixing of gas products is enhanced in the second expansion chamber with a back wall having a hurdle top pass to a successive expansion chamber having a back wall with a hurdle bottom pass. The next successive chamber has a hurdle top pass at the top to a final chamber having a bottom tail pipe outlet passing CO.sub.2, O, C, and carbon pellets as the final output to the tail pipe.

  • Patent number: 4023620
Abstract: A well tubing hanger for suspending a pressure bomb and/or temperature recording device, or other equipment in the tubing from a tubing no-go nipple, through a test period. It is a bomb hanger such that when the suspended equipment is being used for test surveys, the wire line used to run the tools is not left in the well. This results in considerable savings; particularly when a plurality of wells in a field are being surveyed. Tubing hanger locking lugs are shifted radially outwardly into a nipple recess by a longitudinal, movable camming and lug-locking tubular sleeve extension from the tool fishing neck, with the sleeve lockable by a ball recess lock interference fit. A resiliently displaceable plunger structure permits a recess relief unlock for the balls, from the ball recess lock interference fit and thereby permits unlock release movement of said tubular sleeve, with the tool fishing neck, for unlocking the locking lugs from the extended state.

  • Patent number: 4018277
Abstract: A well tubing hanger for suspending a pressure bomb, and/or temperature recording device or other equipment, in the tubing, from a selected tubing nipple, through a test period. It is a bomb hanger such that when the suspended equipment is in use for test surveys, the wire line used to run the tools is not left in the well, thereby achieving considerable savings, particularly when a plurality of wells in a field are surveyed. Hanger locking lugs are shifted radially outwardly into a position-selected matching nipple recess when brought into operational alignment therewith, after lug latch members have been released by unlocking upward movement engagement with a tubing nipple shoulder. A lug-locking sleeve is movable into lug locking position with the sleeve lockable by a ball recess lock interference fit.
