Abstract: There is disclosed a method for making colored hydrophilic contact lenses. A contact lens constructed of hydrophilic polymer that is substantially devoid of the functional groups --COOH, --OH, --NH--R, wherein R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alkyl, --NCO and epoxy is provided. At least a portion of the surface of the lens is coated with a color coat comprising at least one pigment, binding polymer having functional groups selected from at least one of --COOH, --OH, and --NH--R, wherein R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alkyl, and an additional compound having at least two groups per molecule of --NCO. The coated lens is subjected to conditions which cause the color coat to adhere to the lens.

Abstract: There is disclosed apparatus for closing a threaded opening in a container. A flexible plug capable of fitting within the threaded opening having a top and a bottom is provided. A flexible gasket larger than the opening is located at the top of the plug and a first rigid disk capable of fitting within the threaded opening is located at the bottom of the plug. A second rigid disk larger than the opening contacts the gasket. Means passing through the gasket and plug for causing the two disks to move toward each other compress the plug so that is firmly contacts the threads of the opening while the gasket is pressed against the opening by the second rigid disk. An excellent seal is thereby attained.
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for making multi-turned plastic springs. At least 2 mold sections forming a central opening and a cavity with many turns are placed around a hollow sleeve having sufficient opening to flow molten plastic to individual turns. After the plastic solidifies the sleeve is moved with respect to the mold sections to shear a spring that has formed in the cavity from a plastic core in the sleeve. The mold sections are then opened and the spring is removed.
Abstract: A process for manufacturing colored contact lenses and the lens manufactured by the process. A transparent contact lens having a central pupil section and a surrounding iris section has a colorant applied in a pattern to the entire iris section such that at least about ten percent of surface of the iris section is covered by colorant. The produced lens is capable of coloring the iris of the wearer, yet permits visualization of the structure of the iris. A fundamental color change, e.g. from brown to blue, is possible, yet the colored iris has a natural appearance.

Abstract: A full shoe inlay for athletic shoes constructed of resilient material having a depression for the 1st metatarsal head, a raised portion for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th metatarsal heads, a full arch support, and an eccentric heel seat. The heel seat is built up more on the inside than on the outside. The inlay prevents or lessens a number of common athletic-related injuries.
Abstract: Colored contact lenses are produced by providing a contact lens constructed of polymer and coating at least a portion of the lens with coloring substance and binding polymer. The lens and binding polymers are bonded to each other by the reaction of functional groups selected from at least one of --COOH, --OH, and --NH--R, wherein R is hydrogen or alkyl, with functional groups selected from at least one of --NCO and epoxy.
Abstract: A shoe insole having superior cushioning and comfort, good resistance to buckling, and excellent retention of cushioning properties after wear. The insole consists of three layers:(a) a bottom layer having compressive strength of at least 0.3 kg/cm.sup.2 at 40% strain,(b) an intermediate layer having less compressive strength at 40% strain than the bottom layer, and(c) a top layer constructed of fabric. The three layers are laminated together and shaped to fit inside of an article of footwear.

Abstract: A stopper for holding fluid in a container comprising a body of vulcanized elastomer having a convex surface, and, laminated to the convex surface without adhesive, a thin layer of thermoplastic, which forms a surface intended to contact the fluid and a side of an opening in the container.
Abstract: A sustained release quindine dosage form is made from a plurality of pellets. Each pellet includes a quinidine-containing coating over a nonpareil seed, with a further coating of about 5 to about 15% by weight of a mixture of about 1.5 to about 9 parts by weight ethylcellulose to about 1 part by weight hydroxypropylcellulose.
Abstract: A nipple for feeding a baby who has a cleft in its hard palate comprising a flexible hollow tube. There is a discharge opening at one end of the tube and means for attaching the tube to a bottle at the other end of the tube. An extension from the tube has a convex portion shaped to fit against the baby's hard palate and an arch-shaped concave channel to seal against the gums of the baby's upper jaw.
Abstract: A filter for liquids contained in a tank having an existing top opening. The inventive apparatus attaches to the top opening. A weight hangs from the attachment means by a cable. A filter floats on the liquid's surface and slides along the cable. The apparatus is adapted for use in two-pipe systems.
