  • Patent number: 5288324
Abstract: A multi-color powder coat paint recovery apparatus that permits rapid color changes in a powder coat operation comprises a rotatable paint booth positioned adjacent to a painting station, with the booth having a plurality of individual paint color chambers angularly spaced around the periphery of the booth. Each chamber has an open outer side and a filter mechanism at an inner side, with the inner side being in communication with an exhaust outlet from the interior of the housing. The chamber further has primary and secondary paint hoppers positioned below each filter mechanism. An air circulating mechanism draws air inwardly from the painting station through the open outer side of the chamber, through the filter mechanism, out of the housing through the air outlet, and then returns the air through a filtered outlet in a plenum chamber behind the paint applicator. Each color chamber corresponds to a separate paint color.

  • Patent number: 5284518
Abstract: A spray booth ventilation system is adapted for receiving long, slender workpieces suspended from an overhead monorail conveyor. The pieces are carried into and out of this booth, where the paint is applied by conventional equipment. The gases within the booth, which are a mixture of fresh air and evaporated paint solvents, is partially recirculated and re-injected into the booth at discharge orifices defining the edges of the entrance of the booth. Arrangements are provided for equalizing the flow throughout the booth in a vertical direction to avoid points of stagnation which might cause fumes from the booth to emerge from the opening, so that the velocities of the inflow can be minimized to eliminate the danger of collision of the parts as they swing in response to the gas flow, and thus cause damage to the painted surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5262609
Abstract: A self-diagnosing resistance welding cable and method for monitoring the relative increase in cable resistance while a cable is in use, without disconnecting the cable. The cable incorporates a reference resistor in one of the terminals in thermal communication with the cable, such that a comparison in resistance variation between the cable and reference resistor cancels the effects of temperature variation on resistance change. The reference resistor is connected in series with the cable in an electrical test circuit. The test data is sampled each time the welding machine is cycled, and the data is updated and processed by a computer on a continuous basis. The system also monitors the actual temperature of the cable and the flow of coolant through the cable. Multiplexer circuits are used to monitor multiple welding cables with the same computer.

  • Patent number: 5253367
Abstract: A golf glove that encourages a proper grip on the upper hand of a golf grip comprises a conventional golf glove having an elongated padded hump positioned adjacent the third and fourth fingers of the golf glove and aligned parallel with the bases of the third and fourth fingers of the glove. The hump is formed of leather or other flexible sheet material into a pocket, and the pocket is filled with cotton batten or other non-woven compressible fibrous material. The hump non-elastically conforms with the shape of the grip and forms an enlarged portion that urges the grip against the knuckle portion of the third and fourth fingers of the hand and enhances the gripping action of the third and fourth fingers. The hump does not extend over the heel portion of the hand and does not impair significantly the feel of the glove club.
