  • Patent number: 8313471
Abstract: A therapeutic glove of elastic synthetic fabric to which gold-coated self-expanding ring devices are affixed at selective locations adjacent the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints of the fingers of the hand without restricting movement of those joints. The affixing of rings on the interior of the glove along the MCP joints induces optimal gold abrasion therapy of joints that are afflicted by rheumatoid arthritis. The high purity gold-coating on the rings, combined with the snugness of the glove, increases the natural abrasion and absorption of the gold into the joint, which has the therapeutic effect of delaying joint erosion with daily wear.

  • Patent number: 8025147
Abstract: A golf ball stacking device comprises a hollow, elongated body formed of three panels of clear, flexible plastic sheet material connected together at ends to form a hollow tube having an hourglass shape and a generally triangular cross section. Each panel has relatively wide upper and lower ends and a relatively narrow neck portion positioned between the ends. The neck portions are bowed inwardly to form a relatively narrow arcuate throat for balls to pass between larger upper and lower chambers of the body. The upper chamber comprises an inlet for receiving golf balls. The lower chamber comprises a stacking chamber for stacking the golf balls in a triangular pyramid. The panels are not rigidly connected together at the throat, so that the panels surrounding the throat can flex outwardly to prevent ball clogging in the throat. Slots in the side edges permit manipulation of the balls inside the device. A removable flat tray fits under the body and supports a triangular pyramidal stack of balls on the tray.

  • Patent number: 8000357
Abstract: A compact and efficient ultraviolet laser source based on a optically-pumped solid-state or fiber laser that produces near-infrared output light suitable for nonlinear frequency conversion. The infrared laser output is frequency tripled or quadrupled to produce light in the ultraviolet wavelength range (200 nm to 400 nm). The novel technology is the use of highly efficient periodically poled nonlinear crystals, such as stoichiometric and MgO-doped lithium tantalate and lithium niobate. As opposed to conventional frequency-converted UV laser sources, which have high power consumption, high cost, and low efficiency, the laser sources of this invention utilize high efficiency nonlinear conversion provided by periodically poled materials and allow lower-cost architectures without additional focusing lenses, high power pump diodes, etc.
