  • Patent number: 8313471
Abstract: A therapeutic glove of elastic synthetic fabric to which gold-coated self-expanding ring devices are affixed at selective locations adjacent the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints of the fingers of the hand without restricting movement of those joints. The affixing of rings on the interior of the glove along the MCP joints induces optimal gold abrasion therapy of joints that are afflicted by rheumatoid arthritis. The high purity gold-coating on the rings, combined with the snugness of the glove, increases the natural abrasion and absorption of the gold into the joint, which has the therapeutic effect of delaying joint erosion with daily wear.

  • Patent number: 8234983
Abstract: A post and beam furniture construction has a number of support posts and a plurality of beams that interconnect the posts. Accessories, including storage shelves and cabinets, and work surfaces are releasably supported by the posts at various positions relative to the shelf length and the post spacing. Support brackets interconnect accessories and posts. Each post has at least two accessory support rails extending along the post length. A support bracket engages a selected rail. Spaced support bracket receptacles extend along a length of the accessory and a support bracket engages a selected bracket receptacle. The beams may be removed from respective posts without moving the posts and may also be length adjustable.

  • Patent number: 8182034
Abstract: A portable, collapsible child booster seat for a vehicle comprises a collapsible seat member that removably rests on a vehicle seat with collapsible arm rests extending upwardly from opposite sides of the seat member. The seat member includes an upper seating surface supported on a collapsible scissors frame seat base. The seat base is raisable to a deployed position and collapsible to a storage position. The arm rests comprise horizontal arms pivotably mounted on raisable legs. The arm rests have a deployed position, wherein the legs extend upwardly from the seat base and the arms extend forwardly, and a collapsed position, wherein the legs and arms are in a generally horizontal position adjacent the sides of the seat base. The arm rests and seat base are operably interconnected, such that raising or lowering the arm rests between their deployed and collapsed positions causes deployment and collapse of the seat base.

  • Patent number: 8000357
Abstract: A compact and efficient ultraviolet laser source based on a optically-pumped solid-state or fiber laser that produces near-infrared output light suitable for nonlinear frequency conversion. The infrared laser output is frequency tripled or quadrupled to produce light in the ultraviolet wavelength range (200 nm to 400 nm). The novel technology is the use of highly efficient periodically poled nonlinear crystals, such as stoichiometric and MgO-doped lithium tantalate and lithium niobate. As opposed to conventional frequency-converted UV laser sources, which have high power consumption, high cost, and low efficiency, the laser sources of this invention utilize high efficiency nonlinear conversion provided by periodically poled materials and allow lower-cost architectures without additional focusing lenses, high power pump diodes, etc.

  • Patent number: 7810656
Abstract: A modular flow through or push back storage rack system has a transfer assembly with a plurality of modular carriage units located in a warehouse storage bay. The carriage units are arranged in side-by-side pairs. Each side-by-side pair of carriages defines a space between the carriages. Further, the side-by-side pairs of carriages are arranged in end-to-end alignment. Each carriage is preferably provided as an endless loop link track. An inter-carriage transport unit extends between a space between one side-by-side pair of carriage units and another space between an adjacent pair of side-by-side carriage units. Each of the carriage units and the transport unit may be supported by a cross beam. The transport unit preferably extends between adjacent cross beams of adjacent pairs of carriages. The transfer assembly maintains the storage units at a substantially level plane and may modulate a transfer speed of the storage units between adjacent carriages.
