  • Patent number: 8341879
Abstract: The present invention is a plant supporting structure that provides effective support to a fruit bearing plant. It consists of two courses of rings that are vertically spaced. The rings in the outer course form an enclosure within which the rings from the inner course may be placed. The rings are held in place by spines. Each spine ascends vertically, successively connecting the rings of the outer course, and then descends vertically, connecting the rings of the inner course. The spines are spaced around the circumference of the rings. In some embodiments, the bottom ring of the outer course has the largest diameter of all the rings. In such embodiments, the bottom ring may sit on the ground or other plant growing surface and support the entire structure. The outer bottom ring may be lower than the inner bottom ring, thus preventing the fruits from touching the ground.

  • Patent number: 7562443
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assembling box springs for use in bedding applications. The apparatus comprises a base for supporting a frame and a spring unit, a framework with a plurality of tools coupled thereto. Each tool has an associated module adjuster coupled thereto. A vertical drive mechanism provides relative movement between the tools and the base where the tools may be disposed between a first vertical position and a second vertical position. A horizontal drive mechanism provides relative horizontal movement between the tools and the base. Each tool is configured to secure a respective module of a row of the spring unit to a corresponding target location on the frame when disposed in the second vertical position and each module adjuster is configured to align a respective module with a corresponding fastening location when the tool is disposed in the second vertical position.

  • Patent number: 7378642
Abstract: A counting system for a poultry processing plant that uses conveyors is disclosed. Two types of conveyors are addressed, one where poultry hang from the conveyor and one where the carcasses are supported above the conveyor. The sensors are located at different levels to sense elements of the carriers as well as poultry. Logic within the system compares the readings of the sensors to determine whether a chicken is present and whether to increment the total. Additionally, the sensors are recessed in steel tubing on mounting plates which support their own cover plates. The sensors can thereby be adjusted for alignment while the cover plates move with the sensors. The cover plates are easily removed for cleaning and put back into position without blocking the sensors. Air is blown through the steel tubing to keep a positive air pressure in the tubing to prevent dirt from entering the openings.
