  • Patent number: 5743603
Abstract: A furniture unit comprises a closed-front credenza that folds out to form an L-shaped desk. The unit comprises a stationary desk having a partially open front, with a kneehole opening forming at least a portion of the open front. A moveable return pivotally mounted at on one side of the desk comprises a vertical face panel and a work surface mounted at a rear side of the face panel. The return is pivotal between a closed position, wherein the face panel covers the open portion of the front of the desk and the return work surface is concealed behind the face panel, and an open position, wherein the face panel is pivoted outwardly from the front of the desk, exposing the kneehole opening in the desk. The return work surface extends forwardly from the desk alongside the kneehole opening when the return is opened. The face panel is configured so as to create the impression that the furniture unit is a credenza with no kneehole opening when the return is closed.

  • Patent number: 5743579
Abstract: A digging tool of the invention has first and second shovel blades that are aligned in face-to-face orientation and pivotally connected to move clamshell style between open and closed positions. A handle extends from each shovel blade to a grip. When the digging tool is in the open position, the handles criss-cross or overlap and converge from the blades to an overlap point and then diverge from the overlap point to the grips. In the closed position, the shovel blades close toward one another and the handles diverge relatively slightly from the shovel blades to the grips.

  • Patent number: 5680820
Abstract: A computer work station comprises a fixed position work surface having an enlarged monitor opening therein, a recessed component support pan attached to the work surface under the monitor opening, and a raisable monitor support mechanism mounted in the component pan that supports the monitor platform. The monitor lift mechanism is an extendable folding frame that is counterbalanced with a spring mechanism to offset the weight of the monitor such that the monitor can be raised or lowered simply by lifting or lowering the monitor platform manually, with the monitor remaining in place after its position has been adjusted. The component pan provides a recessed support and storage space for the monitor and other components. An adjustable work surface is mounted at the front of the fixed work surface by means of an adjustable mounting mechanism located in the pan and having cantilever arms extending out of the pan. A separate docking station can be provided for a lap top computer.

  • Patent number: 5622450
Abstract: A pressure extraction process for removal of underground contaminants from subsurface soil and groundwater comprises establishing a well through the unsaturated soil into the underlying groundwater unit, with the well including an exterior pipe having fluid permeable openings therein at a lower portion that extends above and below the groundwater surface. An interior pipe is provided inside the exterior pipe and has an inlet opening below the groundwater surface. Oxygen-containing gas is injected into the exterior pipe at a non-vacuum pressure. Preferably the pressure is sufficient to cause some of the gas to flow outwardly into the soil through the pipe openings. A gas pressure flow is established downwardly in the exterior pipe to the inlet of the interior pipe and then upwardly through the interior pipe and out of the well.

  • Patent number: 5618548
Abstract: An improved animal lure and cover scent process and product employs a combustible absorbent material impregnated with an aromatic substance having fragrance attractive to an animal, with the absorbent material being of restricted combustibility such that the absorbent material tends to smoke without producing a flame as it burns, the smoke entraining the fragrance with it as it travels through the air. The combustible absorbent material of the present invention is in the form of an incense stick wherein a cellulosic material formed from sawdust is coated on one end of a combustible bamboo stick. A weather shield protects the incense stick from wind and rain.
