Patent number: 4947292Abstract: A lighting system having a light source is disposed inside the reflective inner surface of a reflector. The longitudinal profile of the reflector is a continuous curve comprised of four substantially circular arcs and a parabolic segment. A first arc lies nearest the source. A second arc having a radius of substantially 1/2 (1+.sqroot.5) times the radius of the first "continues" the first in the sense that the arcs have the same slope at their point of contact. Likewise, a third arc having a radius of substantially 1/2 (1+.sqroot.5) times the radius of the second continues the second arc and a fourth has a radius substantial 1/2 (1+.sqroot.5) times the radius of the third. The parabolic segment continues the fourth arc and completes the profile. Internal and external reflecting means may be provided to further align and direct the exiting light.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1988Date of Patent: August 7, 1990Inventor: John A. Vlah

Patent number: 4650087Abstract: An anti-siphoning device that can be installed without special tools and/or modification to a storage tank inlet. A cylindrical insert has holes in a bottom and side that allow liquid to pass to a storage tank while preventing the insertion of a siphoning hose into the tank. The insert has rings affixed to an outer wall that frictionally engage inner walls of the tank inlet to prevent withdrawal of the insert.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1985Date of Patent: March 17, 1987Assignee: Yankee Wire Cloth Products, Inc.Inventor: Leo White

Patent number: 4620387Abstract: An ice fishing pole and supporting stand are constructed from modular molded plastic components. The pole has an elongated end portion for dropping a line into the water and a reel portion about which the line is wound. Along the elongated pole portion are three cylindrical trunnions supportable in a plastic upright stand. The three trunnions allow the pole to rotate when a fish strikes to give a visual indication that a fish is on the line. When this occurs the fisherman can grab the pole out of the stand and reel in the fish. An ice skimming attachment facilitates use of the pole by allowing the fisherman to skim away ice from his or her fishing hole.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1985Date of Patent: November 4, 1986Assignee: Pacal Molded PlasticsInventor: Ted E. Patent number: 4333010Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for evaluating the linearity of response of a radioactivity dose measurement device over a range of radioactivity dose levels. In accordance with the method, a reference dose of radiopharmaceutical in a container is placed in a central, substantially non-absorptive tube mounted atop a cylindrical spacer with a lead slug coaxial in the tube and positioned below the spacer. This assembly is placed in a measurement chamber of the measurement device, and the response of the device to the unshielded radioactivity is recorded. A succession of leaded shielding sleeves, each having a different known radioactivity attenuation capability, is placed, one at a time, over the central tube. A measurement reading of the device is recorded for indicating the response of the measurement device to the reference dose as shielded by each different sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1981Date of Patent: June 1, 1982Inventor: William H. Miller

Patent number: 4316498Abstract: A ceramic shell mold having the properties of being easily removed from the metal castings, high permeability, and a fired strength that can be controlled at levels lower than conventional molds, characterized in that the refractory used to make the mold is at least in part hydrated alumina.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1980Date of Patent: February 23, 1982Assignee: Precision Metalsmiths, Inc.Inventor: Robert A. Patent number: 4305804Abstract: A plating barrel having a number of plating electrodes coupled to a constant source of electrical potential outside the barrel and connected to a metal plate which rotates with the barrel. A spring biases a non-rotating conductor against the plate inside the barrel to provide a low resistance path to the constant source outside the barrel. A number of seals prevent plating solution from reaching the contact between plate and conductor to avoid corrosion and/or plating of the contact area.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1980Date of Patent: December 15, 1981Assignee: Harshaw Chemical CompanyInventor: Norman B. Patent number: 4300617Abstract: In the art of investment casting, a refractory mold characterized by a casting system including a sprue passage, a cup at one end of the sprue passage, a runner extending from the cup and connecting to the sprue passage near its other end, at least one pattern cavity gated into the sprue passage between the ends of the runner, and a refractory wall in the cup dividing it into a pouring cup portion communicating with the runner and another portion communicating with the sprue passage. A pattern set-up designed to make the mold by the "lost pattern" process of investment casting.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1979Date of Patent: November 17, 1981Assignee: Precision Metalsmiths, Inc.Inventor: Timothy R.
