Abstract: An improvement in the process of recovery of copper from aqueous ammoniacal solutions containing copper values in which the copper values are extracted from the aqueous ammoniacal solution by an organic phase comprised of a diketone copper extractant dissolved in a water-immiscible organic hydrocarbon solvent, by improving the stripping of the copper from the organic extractant phase, in which the improved stripping results from the incorporation into, or addition to the diketone extractant phase of a catalytic amount of an hydroxy aryl oxime. Also an improved extractant composition is provided comprised of the mixture of a diketone copper extractant and a catalytic amount (preferably about 0.5 to about 5 mole % in relation to the diketone) of an hydroxy aryl oxime, such as nonyl or dodecyl salicylaldoxime.

Abstract: Alkoxylated alcohols containing no insoluble matter which would prevent the spray application of such materials are obtained by reacting an alcohol and epoxide in the presence of a catalytic amount of a calcined hydrotalcite catalyst to form a crude alkoxylated product. The crude product is then passed through silica gel to remove insoluble by-products.

Abstract: A high quality lubricant for heavy duty service air conditioner and refrigerator compressors, especially those using chlorine free hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant working fluids, is provided by mixed esters of hindered polyols, most desirably di-pentaerythritol, usually mixed with some pentaerythritol, with a mixture of carboxylic acids including at least some of each of iso-pentanoic acid and iso-nonanoic acid.
Abstract: Aqueous detergents that thicken when mixed with water contain a combination of at least one tertiary amine oxide, at least one alkyl polyglycoside, and at least one water-soluble organic solvent. Also disclosed is the use of these detergents for cleaning hard surfaces.
Abstract: Treatment of aluminiferous metal surfaces with an aqueous liquid composition which has a pH value in the range from 1.8 to 4.0 and comprises (A) from 0.01 to 1.0 g/L of phosphate ions, (B) from 0.01 to 0.5 g/L, measured as its total stoichiometric equivalent as metal, of water-soluble zirconium and titanium compounds, (C) from 0.01 to 2-0 g/L, measured as fluorine, of simple and/or complex fluoride anions; and (D) from 0.01 to 2.0 g/L of water-soluble polyamides that contain at least one tertiary amino or polyoxyalkylene moiety forms a highly corrosion-resistant, strongly paint-adherent, and low friction conversion coating on the metal surface.
Abstract: In washing agents containing tensides and cellulase, the properties of the cellulase which are relevant to the application were to be improved. This was essentially achieved in that use was made of a cellulase mixture in which the first component, with a CMCase activity of 1 U per liter and a protein concentration of a most 3 mg per liter, gives an increase in remission of at least 5 units in the secondary washing test and the second component, with a CMCase activity of 20 U per liter gives an increase in absorption in the cellulose decomposition test of at least 0.075.
Abstract: To prevent the deterioration in water-resistant secondary adherence that occurs during prolonged use of a fluoride-containing phosphate conversion coating liquid composition to form a conversion coating on metal surfaces that are at least partly aluminiferous, the aluminum compound-containing sludge produced in the phosphate conversion coating liquid composition as it is used is coagulated and sedimented by adding at least one cationic polymeric coagulant to the sludge-containing phosphate conversion coating liquid composition.
Abstract: A cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition containing an emulsifier comprising an ester of palmitic acid and technical grade triglycerol with the proviso that the monoester content of the ester is from 30% to 50% by weight.
Abstract: Carotene is recovered from a native fat or oil in five process steps in an economical industrial process. The native fat or oil is catalytically reacted in known manner with an alkanol containing up to 4 carbon atoms to form fatty acid alkyl ester and glycerol. The ester phase of the reaction mixture is subjected to distillation to remove the fatty acid alkyl ester. The distillation residue obtained in the second process step is saponified, carotene is extracted from the product obtained in the third process step and the extract phase is concentrated by evaporation. A yield of at least about 80% is achieved. At the same time, a fatty acid alkyl ester suitable for further processing to fatty alcohol is provided.

Abstract: A filling compound for electrical and optical equipment in the form of cables, connectors, plugs etc. and to assemblies thus produced, is provided. Electrical and optical equipment in the form of cables, connectors, plugs etc. have to be protected against harmful influences penetrating from outside, particularly water, and also against mechanical damage during laying or as a result of exposure to heat. The filling compound is based on a stellate substance, i.e. a substance having a branched molecular structure in which, ideally, 3 or more branches, more particularly polymeric chains, radiate from a single branching point. The filling compound is flexible at very low temperatures but, on the other hand, does not run out, even at extremely high temperatures.
