  • Patent number: 7496116
Abstract: A switching arrangement and method allow signals received by a communications platform to be directed to an appropriate interface depending on the type of signal received by an input signal line. A switch element having a switch is responsive to a logic control system that is itself responsive to signals that the input signal line receives. The logic control system may be responsive to any detectable identification, property or quality of the received signal. When the input signal line receives an analog signal, the logic control system detects that the signal is analog and causes the switch element to connect the input signal line to the analog interface with the switch. When the input signal line receives a digital signal, the logic control system detects that the signal is digital and causes the switch element to connect the input signal line to the digital interface with the switch.

  • Patent number: 6976509
Abstract: A system and apparatus for pressurizing pipe includes a resilient and compressible plug insertable into the opposed ends of the pipe for sealing the pipe. The plug includes a plug body having a larger outside diameter than the inside diameter of the pipe, a flange that limits insertion of the plug into the pipe, and a blind hole coaxial with the plug for receiving the rod of a pushing member used to force and push the plug into the pipe. The rod has a smaller diameter than the hole for allowing the plug to compress during insertion for fitting into the pipe. After insertion of the plugs pipe pressurization occurs by securement of the needle end of an air pressure gun to a cylindrical needle shield that is circumjacently placed on the pipe for needle end alignment whereupon the needle end perforates the plug for pipe pressurization, and as the needle end is withdrawn the plug body compresses and closes the temporary needle slot thereby sealing the pipe.

  • Patent number: 6930272
Abstract: A vise for holding a work piece in position on an EDM machine includes a main plate for attachment to the rail or ledge of the EDM machine, and the main plate supports a vise that holds the work piece in position during the machining process. The vise includes a movable jaw adjustable in the x direction and a solid jaw for clamping and holding the work piece therebetween. Both jaws include undercuts adjacent the work area of the vise, and the jaws define a clearance pocket so that the discharge wire can be moved to the work position adjacent the work piece. The solid jaw also provides a fixed and repeatable locating surface for the discharge wire so that the discharge wire can use the solid jaw to establish a reference point wherein the discharge wire touches off the solid jaw in order to move the discharge wire to the work position.

  • Patent number: 6722248
Abstract: A bi-directional cutting band mill apparatus utilizes two band saws mounted on a carriage for cutting horizontal sections from logs through successive back and forth passes across each log as the carriage reciprocates on a lower frame wherein a section of the log is cut with one band saw in one pass and then a next section of the lumber is cut by the other band saw as the carriage travels in the opposite direction in the following pass. The bi-directional cutting band mill apparatus includes structural elements that allow for the coincident raising and lowering of both band saws and structural elements that provide for the sequential and incremental adjustment of each band saw preparatory for cutting the sections from the log so that each respective band saw can be positioned for making the appropriate depth of cut through the section of the log during that respective pass of the respective band saw.
