  • Patent number: 6163453
Abstract: A fan duct induces an air flow generated by a fan of a lower supply of a computer to flow simultaneously through at least two heat-generating components of the computer. The fan dut is formed by plastic injection molding to have a cuboidal configuration, defining a first opening in alignment with the fan, a second opening proximate a first heat-generating component, and a third opening proximate a second heat-generating component when the fan duct is mounted in the computer at a predetermined position. When the fan is operated in a direction to draw air from the computer, an air flow is generated to simultaneously flow through the two heat-generating components and into the fan duct via the second and third openings. The heated air is then expelled out of the fan duct via the first opening to reach an exterior of the computer.

  • Patent number: 6159039
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes a substantially cuboidal main dielectric housing having a first partition dividing an inner space thereof into an upper space and a lower space. An RJ45 modular jack is mounted in the first space which has a top wall abutting against a top wall of the main housing and defining two recesses. Two LEDs for indicating the connecting condition of the RJ45 connector with a mating connector are received in the recesses. A second type connector consisting of two USB connector units is mounted to the second lower space. A second partition continues from the first partition to define a third space between the second space and a rear side of the main housing. A rear part of the second type connector abuts the second partition. A transformer for filtering noise received by the RJ45 modular jack is received in the third space and soldered between contact portions and tail portions of contacts of the RJ45 modular jack.

  • Patent number: 6155843
Abstract: An IC card connector assembly comprises a pair of stacked header connectors and a locator. The header connectors include a plurality of terminals. Each terminal has a mounting portion downwardly extending beyond the header connector. The locator includes a pair of side walls and a center portion defining a cavity therebetween, the center portion defining two rows of tunnels and a cavity in communication with the cavity. Each tunnel forms a projecting area on an inner surface thereof proximate the cavity. The mounting portions are arranged in two rows. Each mounting portion extends through the corresponding tunnel of the locator and into the cavity. The projecting area outwardly deflects the mounting portion to closely abut against the inner surface of the side wall thereby ensuring reliable engagement with contacts of a plug mounted on a mother board.

  • Patent number: 6155854
Abstract: An audio jack comprises an insulative housing, a plug receptacle projecting from the housing for mating with a complementary audio plug, and a pair of transfer switches retained in the housing and extending therefrom for connecting to a circuit board. Each transfer switch consists of an engagement contact and a resilient contact engageable with the engagement contact. Each resilient contact comprises a contact portion with a wiping contact section formed thereon engageable with the corresponding engagement contact. A wiping contact action between the resilient contact and the corresponding engagement contact is complemented by the design of the wiping contact section to remove contaminants on the contact interface thereby ensuring a reliable connection therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6146151
Abstract: A method for forming an electrical connector, comprising the following steps:stamping a flat metal sheet to obtain a number of blank contacts and connecting portions lying on the flat plane, the connecting portions electrically connecting the blank contacts together;insert molding elastomeric material to top and bottom faces of the metal sheet wherein a number of openings are formed in the elastomeric material aligning with the blank contacts and the connecting portions; andapplying a tool through the openings to act on the blank contacts and the connecting portions whereby the blank contacts are bent to extend over top and bottom faces of the elastomeric material so that contacts for engaging with mating electrical components are formed, and the connecting portions are separated from the contacts so that the contacts are electrically individual from each other.

  • Patent number: 6118661
Abstract: A clip is configured for retaining a heat sink on a chip and socket combination. The clip includes an arcuate pressing portion, first and second engaging arms downwardly extending from opposite ends of the arcuate pressing portion, and a driving arm generally upwardly extending from a lower end of the second engaging arm. The clip engages with the socket by openings in the first and second engaging arms receiving projections on opposite edges of the socket. The arcuate pressing portion downwardly presses the heat sink toward the chip. The second engaging arm defines a slit above the hole thereof to reduce the rigidity thereof and the driving arm forms a rib to increase the rigidity thereof, thereby the driving arm having a greater rigidity than the second engaging arm. The driving arm is downwardly and outwardly movable to disengage the second engaging arm from the socket.
