  • Patent number: 5146557
Abstract: The present user interface for a golf green and golf putt modelling system includes actuators which allow a user to select camera positions and illumination of a golf green. The user also may select, using the interface, a location of a golf ball and a golf cup on the green. The interface also displays the path trajectories of the golf ball on the green.

  • Patent number: 5121330
Abstract: A system and method for restructuring a product assembly utilizes a knowledge base of past product designs to identify to an expert, which components within the assembly are candidates for replacement with other components. By reducing the varieties of components in assemblies, the cost of manufacturing decreases. Data base management techniques are used to store and maintain data about the makeup of various assembly models and the criteria used to select the components for each assembly. Restructure candidates are identified by manipulating selection tables in such a way as to locate those criteria that have little effect on the choice of a given component. An expert then evaluates the possibility of replacing those components that are currently being used in those small number of cases where the aforementiond selection criteria with little decision making weight actually do determine selection of that particular component.

  • Patent number: 4910166
Abstract: Bars of integral laser diode devices cleaved from a wafer are placed with their p regions abutting and n regions abutting. A thin BeCu mask having alternate openings and strips of the same width as the end facets is used to mask the n region interfaces so that multiple bars can be partially coated over their exposed p regions with a reflective or partial reflective coating. The partial coating permits identification of the emitting facet from the fully coated back facet during a later device mounting procedure.

  • Patent number: 4903987
Abstract: An instrument panel for an automobile is provided comprising a beam member. The central portion of the beam is spaced away from the frame and is capable of flexing elastically in the transverse direction. A recoil restraint means is secured at one end intermediate the ends of the beam and is secured at the other end to the frame. The recoil restraint means permits motion of the beam in the transverse direction towards the frame but preventing motion away from the frame.
