  • Patent number: 5862796
Abstract: A gas storage apparatus for use in storing a gas including methane as a main component thereof is disclosed. The apparatus includes an entrance/exit opening for allowing entrance or exit therethrough of a gas to be stored, a gas-tight maintaining mechanism capable of maintaining the gas under a pressurized state inside a container, and a pressure vessel which may be constantly maintained at a normal temperature. The pressure vessel accommodates therein an organometallic complex having a one-dimensional channel structure.

  • Patent number: 5570592
Abstract: The sinker actuating apparatus has a sinker actuator which is displaced on a needle bed so as to move a movable sinker to a pressing or releasing position. A connector for connecting the actuator is non-fixedly provided to a needle moving device so that the actuator is moved in response to the movement of the needle mover. First and second stopper are provided for restricting the advanced or retracted positions of the sinker actuator. A resilient member is arranged to give an advancing force to the actuator.

  • Patent number: 5507222
Abstract: A can crusher has a removable arm member hingedly connected to a base member, and the arm member has a crushing portion which is received in nested fashion by a can receiving portion on the base member. The crushing portion has a bearing wall with a lip and a plurality of struts perpendicular to the bearing wall. The lip extends above the struts. The base member has a step pad so that the can crusher may be either wall mounted or portable. The lip engages the rim on a container to be crushed to captively secure the container between the lip and the base member. This avoids accidental ejection of the container from the can crusher. When the arm member is in the open position, the lip is spaced from the base member a sufficient distance to accommodate aluminum beverage cans, steel cans and plastic bottles of common household sizes. The struts may also be provided with protective elements to prevent undue wear on the crushing portion.

  • Patent number: 5500598
Abstract: The apparatus comprises a plurality of connectors (9, 10, 11, 12 . . .) for connecting to the component to be tested (e.g. a transformer), a signal generator (19), a measuring system (23) and control means (22) which is arranged to control which of the connectors (9, 10, 11, 12 . . .) are connected to the signal generator (19) and the measuring system {23) and arranged to control the function of the signal generator (19) and the measuring system (23) so that the same signal generator (19) and measuring system (23) can be used to carry out a variety of different tests on the component, the signal generator (19) also being arranged to provide a synchronising signal (28) to the measuring system (23) so that the phase relationship between measurements at different times can be calculated by comparing the phase relationships of those measurements with the synchronising signal (28).

  • Patent number: 5359801
Abstract: A scent dispenser includes an upper reservoir which holds a liquid scent source and a lower chamber which houses an adjustable burner. The burner emits heat to the upper reservoir and exhausts through a central vent pipe, causing the scent held in the upper chamber to volatilize. Exhaust from the vent pipe entrains volatilized scent and carries it into the atmosphere. A method for dispensing scent is also disclosed.
